I think the best time to visit...
  • Tip Rating:
  • I think the best time to visit is in June because during the summer time, there's a lot of fly. They're not the normal fly, they're very big. If you find the koala from the souvenir shop, you'll find that they wear a hat with some strings around it. It's to avoid those big fly!!!

watch out for wild life when...
  • Tip Rating:
  • watch out for wild life when driving at night as small animals often run across the roads .let people know where your going if you intend hiking if you get lost you could easy freeze to death in the winter months.remember tassie is not over populated.THIS last fact probably was one reason Tasmainia now holds the terrible honor of the single worst killing spee by a loan gun man who killed 31 people at the historic site of port authur it took along time for the authorities to get there as fast as they would have in other australian states.this terrible action lead to a ban of semi automatic weapons in australia,THE US COULD LEARN FROM from this example but america is very backward on gun control.

Well it's not a real danger,...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Well it's not a real danger, but it happened often to us.
Aboriginees sometimes asked us to buy beer or liquor for them. We later found out that on Mondy and Thursday (or were it other days?) they weren't allowed to buy it for themselves. You can get troubles with the police (there's high fee on that)

    The Mary river, near Darwin...
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Mary river, near Darwin and iside Kakadu natural park, is a paradise of wetland birds and water-lilies. Simple precautions for crocodiles are not to stay in water with feet and not to camp near the river. Remember that salt water but not fresh water crocodiles are dangerous and remeber that the only really dangerous animal is man (he eats crocodiles in restaurant).

    ALWAYS swim between the red...
  • Tip Rating:
  • ALWAYS swim between the red and yellow flags when you go to the beach anywhere in Australia and obey any directions from Volunteer Lifesavers. Australia beaches are the most beautiful in the world, however, if you are not used to the surf, they can be a danger.
ALWAYS wear protective 30+ sunscreen, even on cloudy days. The sun is very harsh and you will burn if not careful!

There are loads of things in...
  • Tip Rating:
  • There are loads of things in Oz that can kill you!...if its not stinging trees, its snakes or spiders or even crocodiles! and if you go in the water, theres jellyfish, sharks and other strange creatures but its not as bad as it sounds....i only saw one redback spider and only two snakes on my visit. Although in 5 months in Oz, on the news i saw quite a few attacks(a couple fatal) from snakes, crocs, spiders, jellyfish and sharks!

In the outback the flies are...
  • Tip Rating:
  • In the outback the flies are the biggest nuisance.. a fly net for your hat is a good idea..also always be aware that you carry enough water with you..and plenty of suncream, the sun is fiercesome!!!!!
If driving alone in the outback make sure you are well prepared with a sturdy vehicle and PLENTY of water, for both the vehicle and yourself.
