Everybody hears about all the dangerous animals in Oz: 10 deadliest snakes in the world, red back and funnel web spiders, saltwater crocodiles, blue ringed octopus, and all sorts of sharks with the big three dangerous ones the great white, tiger and bull sharks. But none of these animals phased me in the slightest, in fact I had an extremely poisonous sea snake lick my hand, picked up a wild python, head butted a shark (small reef shark) and went looking for crocs in a little tin boat. The only animal that scared the heck out of me was the BOX JELLYFISH. They are found in the waters near shore of the northern half of of Australia's coastline from October to May. Often called simply 'stingers' there tentacles can reach 2 metres (6 feet) behind there bodies and they are tough to see.
