    Rarotonga airport

Wine, alcohol and cigarettes tend to pretty expensive on the island but you can save a lot by doing your shopping at the airport duty free shops on arrival. The shops are pretty small but well stocked.

Make sure you do your shopping before passport control. The shops are on your right when entering the airport building.

What to pay: Cigarettes from NZ$20 a carton, vodka from NZ$20 a litre

    Village stores: Bits and pieces

    In front of village shop

There are small village stores throughout Rarotonga, and they don't tend to stock a lot, but it's a good place to pick up things like drinks and icecreams.

Here's an example of the 'six til eleven' chain.

KC Cybernet: Net Cafe rip off

by sarsparilla Written Aug 27, 2005

This place is by Aroa Beach and is a total rip off. If the dial up goes down, they charge you for all the time THEY spend fixing it, then refuse to refund you if you can't get online.

They promised I'd get the full time I'd paid for if I came back another day (which was improbable), but refused outright to sign the back of the receipt or make a note to guarantee this would happen.

And the bar next door - Cafe Maori - their food was disgusting too, with coffee that once saw a half teaspoon of nescafe on the other islands and blinked.

If you need a snack or email, get the $3 bus to Cook's corner, instead!

Well there are so many diffrent shops on the island that now one was my favorite, there where many, you can buy just about anything you want from great looking local made Tshirts to Black pearls, just take your time looking around and then come back the next day to make your pick.

What to buy: Black Pearls are a grat buy for that loved one back home, pick from ear rings necklace's and rings.
T shirts of many designs and colors are a must take home and pretty cheap too.
Locally made timber products are great, a bit expensive then other islands but still good.
A full asortment of small knick nacks ot be found as well.

What to pay: from a $1nz to $20000
