by tully8 Excellent (though pricy) food, lovely decor, excellent service.
Try the pre-set menu, for about 25NZD, very very tasty. I had an excellent lentil soup for starters, which just about filled me up for the rest of the meal! Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: Address: Muri Beach, PO Box 747, Rarotonga, Cook IslandsOther Contact: Telephone: 682 25 123 Fax: 682

by Lonecougar I'm not one for fancy restaurants I like ones that are plain and inexpensive. I found three good one's on the Island. The PALACE TAKEAWAY serves all kind of burger and fries. Try the Palace Burger, you will not believe the size and content of this berger. They have picnic tgables that overlook the Avarua Harbour. MAMA'S CAFE in Town (Avarua) is an excellent place for breakfast, cafateria style. Have good 'egg Mcmuffins'. Lot's of baked goods, ice cream etc. Good daily luch special. FLAMBOYANT PLACE. This is the place that I had most of my suppers at. Situated on the west side of the Island about half a mile north of Manuai Beach Hotel. It's located in a small 'strip Mall' along with a grocery store and a shirt store, and a liquor store. This little take out store has excellent chow main Cook Island style. Also fish (parrot) and chips, chutney, a number of chicken dishes, burgers, chips etc. Has an outdoor patio close to the main road. The food is prepared by husband and wife and is popular with the locals. Mention also to SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKEN for some good old fashioned fried chicken takeout. Across the street from the Avarua Harbour. Another good place is the BLUE NOTE CAFE. Excellent for breakfast lunch and supper. Good view of town from the patio. The price here is a little higher then the other 4 places mentioned above. THIS PICTURE: A small plantation on the inner circle road Ava Metua (Great road of Toi) Leave a Comment Theme: Other

by Jennyfer_1 The writer of one guidebook designated the Banana Court Bar as 'one of the last old-time South Seas bars anywhere.' Another author acclaimed the bar as a great watering hole of the Pacific, 'probably one of the last to slake the deep thirst caused by too much fun, too few women and too much water.' I think you can get the best smoothies on the island here and you have a great view over the ocean. It's also a great place to hang out at at night. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

by littlebush In my first hour on Rarotonga, i went to a small empty cafe in Avarua, the capital(if you can call it that with its few hundred residents!) and i ordered a chicken burger..........20 minutes later, the waitress comes over and says 'sorry, we're out of chicken'......20 minutes!!....this was my first introduction to the pace of life in the cooks!....she suggested i have a curry burger instead!!!and that if i did i'd be the first person ever to have one....so i did and after an hours wait i had the most gorgeous but runny and messy curry burger! Seafood is abundant!....most usual western dishes are available....self catering is resonably cheap too but best to buy from Avarua rather than any of the smaller shops scattered around the island! Also, there is plenty of fresh fruit around. If staying at Varas, you can pick your dinner off the trees for free! There are various restaurants around Avarua and you can eat at many of the hotels.
Curry burger of course! And try a 'Cooks Lager' for a local brew! Picture : Relaxation, Aitutaki Theme: Other

For dinner we found the selection limited to a few restaurants that didn't have the resort prices. He are some of the one's we liked. The Spagetti House, Take Away at the harbour and the Steak House. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Our favorite restaurant was the Cafe in downtown Rarotanga. It is a modern restaurant with a open front to the street and excelent breakfast's for a resonable price. Good coffee too! No dinner menu but a great place for lunch and breakfast.
French toast and fried banana..yum! Leave a Comment Theme: Other
