Favorite thing: For your safety, comfort, and enjoyment, it is essential to have a dive buddy that you are compatible with....

Favorite thing: Be sure to get out to a native pig roast. A visit to Pohnpei would not be complete without it.....(my apologies to the vegetarians out there, but it is a native custom...)
I was fortunate to attend a native pig roast twice in Pohnpei, with all the trimmings,, that is a pig on a spit, many native dishes, followed by a full evening of pounding, squeezing, then consuming the muddy sakau... (Native elixir that makes your face go numb...)

Favorite thing: The single best thing about diving in Pohnpei is the infrastructure, or lack thereof... Since there are no big mega resorts here, and only a few flights a week to/from the island, there aren't many tourists out this way.
The underwater scenery in Hawaii is great, but diving there is like a cattle drive... I've done about 25 dives in Pohnpei, and only once did I see anyone else underwater besides the couple of guys that came with me... (I'll guarantee you will see more sharks than divers...)

Favorite thing: When in Pohnpei, try to catch a magic show. On a somewhat annual basis, a traveling band of One visits the FSM and performs gratis for the locals. You can't miss him, as he is an aging 6'2" red haired guy wearing a Hawaii Five O shirt...
It can be quite the spectacle as small local children put themselves into harms way of needles, razors, knives, and chopping blocks, all of which are operated by a near- sighted man on the border of nitrogen narcosis, whose blood alcohol content is undoubtedly in excess of any local/state or federal limit. (Think twice before volunteering to be the guinea pig for any such tricks...)

In this case Heinekens on 200 pound test was a winning combination for landing the big fish...

Favorite thing: Best to keep the Cappy sober and lucid.
Burn you O2 and surface early on the 2nd dive, and secure the lions share of the post-dive beers from the cooler pronto...

Favorite thing: When doing wall dives, it is not a bad idea to occasionally take a look over your shoulder once in a while...
