Getting read to land Micronesia

Travel to the Federated states of Micronesia as of this writing in July of 2007 only available via Guam and Hawaii on Air Micronesia part of Continental Airlines Continental.

Micronesia provides service from Hawaii Air hopping through the Marshall Islands to Kosrae, Pohnpei, Chuuk and than on to Guam three times weekly. This trip is really fun in itself you see tiny islands that you really wonder if you can land on them they a are so small than you do. This is a ride you really want to have a widow seat on a watch as you touch down just after coming off the water and stop just before you go in to the water on the other side of the islands. The pilots say it is difficult landing conditions and they go through lots of tires.

Chuuk and Pohnpei are also served by Continental Micronesia from Guam five times and four times weekly, respectively, and to Kosrae three times weekly.

Yap and Palau are also served by the Continental Micronesia out of Guam three times weekly. Guam is really the hub and it has flights from most Asian countries and from North America with carriers like Continental, Korean, NWA, JAL, China Airlines and I am sure more. Guam is a major Japanese/Korean honeymoon spot and you can find so realy value in flights from there.

Palau’s recently launched Palau Micronesian but well this did not work out.And I read where the other carrier Air Nauru which use to connect theses island to Australia also folded.

Air Mic, the milk run around the islands.
Plan to walk alot. There will be van pickup at the airports and then it will be more laid back, and will take alittle effort on your own to get out and about. I found going with the small operators was always an adventure of the best kind.

Continental Air Services around Micronesia

The only airline service Kosrae, Chuuk/Truk, Pohnpei and Yap is Continental Micronesia (CO). Since there are no other airlines, only FULL FARE tickets are available and the prices are very high! The best place to start your trip to your island is: Guam, Manila, Tokyo or Taipei.

Air Micronesia, which was originally a Continental partner.
On the island, bicycle... period. .5 miles wide by 3 miles long... you don't need anything else. Island to island we went in a Carabou... U.S. workers went by helicopter... Martialese went by boat.
