by TashieKitten

Go SCUBA diving! The water's warm, the fish are plentiful and the vis is great! Not having anything to do. No phone, no computer, no television. I went there for my honeymoon and this uninterrupted time with my husband is invaluable and so very very precious to me.

Go to the peaceful WAYA Island where you can enjoy your life. I had a little trip from Waya with the school boat. A lot (A LOT!!!) of children going to school. Wenn we came back it was already advenced night, we saw a hudge cruiser in the bay (impressiv from a fisher boat) and at last we arrived (safe) into the village and made a exellent KAVA night/music.

I did not move that much within the country.I was based at Nadi city in Western part of Viti Levu island, where you have the biggest airport (and international one).We did a 1 day excursion to the capital...Suva. Very very interesting if you want to really meet local Fidjian people. The government palace is worth to see (you can not enter but you can see it from the gardens), with their guards wearing traditional 'skirt' clothing.>>> the picture shows the entrance of the Presidential Residence in Suva, with the typical clothes worn by official Fiji police/security...funny <<< But the very very best place I've ever been could really be :MANA island, small one, about 1 1/2 hours by boat from Nadi port. It's like a paradise....extraordinary beach and top top clear water full of sealife and really not crowded. You must go there if you can afford it (boats aren't cheap). I...

Talk to the locals , youll probably get invited to go out with them. Being in the Air Force we got talking to some locals who were officers and they took us to their officers club and brought us drinks all day

We hired a taxi to take us to singatoka, cost us $25for the whole day, then he take us back to his home for a traditional Indain dinner and to meet his family. Dad stll see him every time he goes back to fiji every year. I really enjoy that as you don't find many people like any more.

SevuSevu with a local chief in a remote island of the Wasawa group.Anchoring offshore, and staying at a literally 'deserted tropical island', that our group had all to ourselves...The '$2.00 BAR', (it's actual name, although the drinks were actually $2.50 (about $1.25 USD)). Located in Musquet Cove, it was full of 'yachties' (sailors) whom where all quite friendly and full of stories and adventures. Even the old 'grizled' sailors that I expected might be a little snooty towards a landlubber like myself where great... down under, seemed a different world than the Caribbean, where there where a lot of egos on board (ie. 'island hopper sailors' who still getting there sea legs). In Fiji, most everyone has made the passage from Panama, and had to depend and rely upon solid skills, as well as other boats in case of emergency or help. Made for lots of good, solid, openhearted folks.

I met a Fijiian man in Nadi who invited me to his home to meet his wife and family for a proper Fijiian meal. I accepted and was treated like a queen in their home. I have never met more hospitable people in my life. We had a wonderful meal and the family ended up seeing me off at the airport on my departure.

The laid back feel! Do not expect anything to happen when they say it will, therefore, don't rush - you have plenty of time. They call if Fijitime, like no other time zone you've known. The people were warm and friendly, especially the kids!

by King1e

Can't think of a 'Must' right now, My doc.s just told me to go away, and that was a stop over point on my trip to Australia. Much more, but it can wait. I guess the warm weather, and warm water, and coral with colorful fish within 10 feet of the shoreline (shallow). The very small island I stayed on (no cars) it had one small tractor. The Island is called Beachcomber. I did not realize it, when I booked it, but it is a, well sort of a party island.

Visit Beachcomber Island...

by mark88

Visit Beachcomber Island resort during Feb or March each year for the 1/2 price diving. This beautiful island is small enough to walk around in about 10 minutes but has a wide range of activities to keep you occupied.
