Shark feeding at The...

by mark88

Shark feeding at The Supermarket. This is a dive spot on the outer reef where they feed the sharks a couple of times a week. There are no shark cages and you get to see the sharks up real close. This picture was taken with a Kodak disposable marine camera in 10 meters. These cameras are only rated for about 3 meters so I'm glad it came out OK.

If you surf.. you must surf Frigates break.. If you drive to Waidroka Bay Resort, they have early morning boat rides ( I mean Early!) to 9 surf breaks ( including Frigates). On average Frigates breaks overhead. This was the smallest day the guys had seen in a while. It is a LONG paddle from the boat to the break. ( It is however in the middle of the ocean). If you are not in shape, watch it.

Don't forget your sula!

by TracyG

As it is hard to visit an authentic fijian village without a local, it is a privalage to visit one. It is very worth the effort going to one, just in the welcome that you get shown, and of course the chance to join in with the kava drinking - just remeber your sula.

A change from the beach!

by TracyG

Most people visiting Fiji, land at Nadi airport and head straight for the beach resorts or islands. If you have any time, try and take a trip into the Nausori Highlands, on the East of Viti Levu. The rivers and waterfalls are amazing as is the scenery and surrounding countryside. Just watch out for the roads, they are pretty horrendous....

by Grete

The island of Nananu - I - Ra is easily acessable, but you must book ahead as there are only a few places to stay. You must bring your own food to prepare and there's no electricity after approx. 9.30 - 10.00 pm . We had a beach several km long practically to ourselves. Absolutely beautiful place to stay: sunabthe and charge up your batteries, get up to date on yor diary, write a lot of postcards and catch up on the book you've been dragging along for months, but havn't had the time to read yet.

I never got round to going. But a man in the village called Moses (I think he was the eldest) invited me to an island towards the bottom of Fiji where they do Firewalking. The locals also play touch rugby on the sand every sunday - Saula was always trying to rope me into playing but his cousin and I always went to the local pool hall instead.

Walk around coral island in 5 minutes

Take a cab

by steveglines

Taking a cab ride in Fiji is the way to go if you can. I flew into Nadi airport and flew to Suva. I took a 5 hour cab ride back that was spectacular. It cost me $70 in Fiji dollars, about $40 US.
