Take the Kings Highway

by Robmj

This northern road goes round the main Island of Viti Levu and passes many small, remote villages and goes through lush vegetation. The road is partly sealed, part unsealed and is around 200kms in length. You can do it in a day with a vehicle but there are many nice spots to stop and stay, so you could take a leisurely day or two if you prefer. This side will definately give you more of the local perspective of Fiji than the resort Islands or Southern Coast.

Plantation Island

by Robmj

This Island is part of the Mamanuca group and is only an hours boat trip from the mainland harbour of Denerau by Nadi. This Island is a great family getaway spot and will have something for everyone. Great beaches, swimming, snorkelling, water sport, golf, childrens crech and entertainment, theres even a nine hole golf course. You have two resorts to choose from and the Island also has a mini market between the two resorts to stock up on "cheaper" eats and drinks for your rooms. Be sure to splash out and get a beachfront bure.Enjoy

Castaway Island Resort

by malianrob

We went to a few different islands and visited many resorts and I have to say that Castaway Island Resort was one of my favorites. I didnt actually stay here but we were brought here to spend the day. The beach on this island was beautiful soft sand. The resort is beautiful. We walked around and explored and I came to the conclusion that if I ever come back to Fiji I will more than likely stay here.

Drive along to Coral Coast

by malianrob

I read on a Vt members pages to drive the Coral Coast because it was an amazing drive. I have to agree it was great. We passed many different villages, saw some of the most beautiful landscape and the ocean coast was awesome. I loved it. The drive out of Nadi was great and it felt good to get to out the the hustle of Nadi Town and Denarau Island. We stopped a few times to take pictures and to get a bite to eat.The only down side to this ride is that at times you will find yourself behind a truck, van or bus that needs a major smog check. It was amazing how bad it got at times.

Go explore other islands

by malianrob

Once in Fiji explore that island then go visit other islands. There are 333 islands so take your pick. Most tours to other islands include a bar-b-que lunch. You can also stay on another island for a few days which is what I would do next time.

Get Married!

by dancinbudgie

We decided to run away to get married so as to avoid all the fuss and bother that normally comes with a wedding. We chose Crusoes Retreat on the Coral Coast as our wedding resort and it turned out to be a brilliant decision. All I had to do was bring rings and a groom!Everything was organised for me exactly the way I wanted it, and it was all accomplished with a phone call, a couple of emails and a meeting with Narrelle (GM of crusoes and wedding co-ordinator), the day after we arrived on the pool deck over a cocktail! I literally had nothing to do but kick back and relax...which I certainly took advantage of!On the actual day of the wedding it was business as usual, we had a delicious and leisurely breakfast, and then headed off to the beach for some snorkelling and sun-soaking. At energetic moments we would have a bit of a kayak. One of the village ladies hunted me down and measured my...

Fish Feeding (Crusoes Retreat)

by dancinbudgie

I had heard really awful reviews about the quality of snorkelling on the Coral Coast and so was not expecting much. At Crusoes Retreat I got a wonderful surprise! The snorkelling at this resort is great! And right off the beach too!. This is due to the joint fish feeding/ coral farming program Crusoes runs with the neighbouring Namaqumaqua Village. Every day the villagers feed the fish from their end of the beach at the same time the resort staff and guests feed them from their end of the beach. There is no fishing alowed in the vicinity. These 2 small things, along with the coral farming activities, are bringing the marine life back in startling numbers. The photo's below show some of the fish we saw only a few metres from the beach. In fact, the sea-life was so close, that our toddler only had to don his goggles, wade out, and stick his head in the water to see all kinds of colorful...

Coral Coast Snorkelling (Crusoes Retreat)

by dancinbudgie

Crusoes Retreat offered daily snorkelling safari's from their resort. Each day we were taken to a different location, and each day there was something new and amazing to discover. There were all kinds of tropical fish, clams, and beautiful soft and hard corals. The water is wonderfully warm and crystal clear. Non snorkellers are welcome to come along and enjoy the trip from the boat. Crusoes safari operators are friendly, informative and fun. The boats are well maintained and comfortable. Best of all, unlike other resorts, Crusoes run their snorkel safari's free of charge!

GO ON A TALL SHIP CRUISE

by AusPinay

Captains Cook's Tall Ship Cruise was one of the best cruises we've ever taken. It was just a whole day's out at sea but was fantastic! We booked it through the tourist desk at our hotel. We sailed the calm waters of Fiji's Viti Levu Island going to Mystery Island and while cruising, we had nice tucker for morning tea prepared on board. Also we were treated to a kava ceremony, which is the native Fijian way of welcoming guests. We each had a turn of tasting the kava which is supposed to be potent like wine. I only had a little bit so I didn't think it was so strong at all!We had lunch at the island of Tivua which was fabulous (both food and the island)! There were heaps of delicious big fishes, salads of all sorts, bread rolls, etc. Dessert was also lovely with fresh fruits! There was plenty of time to snorkel (gear supplied and included in the tariff) the clear waters of the island which...

Spa Treatment at Leilani's

by dancinbudgie

I am not normally a spa treatment kind of gal, but we were in Fiji for an 'indulgence' holiday (if you can't indulge on your wedding and honeymoon when can you?), so I gave it a go and was instantly hooked! I had the deluxe pedicure, which took about an hour and made me feel wonderfully pampered. The treatment chairs face into the rainforest (the spa is semi-enclosed), and it was so peaceful and cool I could have fallen asleep.Grant and I also had a couples massage which almost caused me to lose my new husband. He was so impressed by the massage that he asked his masseuse to mary him! It was such a great massage that I alsmost let him!Prices start at $15Fiji dollars for an eyebrow shape. The 'head to toe' experience costs $165 and lasts 2 hours! I would recomend trying at least 1 tratment here if you get the chance...it would be impossible to be disapointed with it!
