There is one flight a day from LAX. It takes about 101/2 hours and you lose a complete day going. cab Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Air Pacific, Qantas, Ansett, Air New Zealand and canadian Airlines have flights connect Australia, New Zealand and North America to Fiji Well, I would suggest travellers to take taxi as they are very cheap when shared by a few people. I have also taken buses and I think they are fine. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

We took Air New Zealand from LA to Fiji... it was a great flight and was only about half full. The trip back was more crowded and had a 4 hour layover in Honolulu, but they still had great customer service. I wouldn't recommened driving as the people there tend to drive on the extreme side... best to grab a taxi and hang on for your life. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

Boat at Beachcomber by TracyG Flying is by far the most convienient way, but I also met people that had arrived by boat. On the main island itself, the taxis seem to be reasonably priced and are probably the best for getting around Nadi. Fiji also has its own local airline, that you can fly to some of the larger islands in the group. But for reaching the outer, smaller islands, the only real way is by boat. Easy to get sea weary so the odd flight to/from the islands is well warranted. Small planes so get in the front seats and get a pilots eye view. We only flew at 400 feet so got some million dollar views. Contact me as I have loads more details at home here. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

When I was staying in a budget hotel near the Nadi Airport on Viti Levu I’d wait for the local bus to take me into town and be repeatedly pestered by all manner of minibuses and taxis on the main road sharking for my business to take me into town. However ignore this lot and take wait for the bus. a) It’s cheaper ($5 for the taxi, which considering exchange rates is still peanuts, but still…) and b) It’s a lot more of an interesting and atmospheric experience to ride with the locals. They’re used to wide-eyed backpackers anyway and won’t blink a bit. Granted some services will sometime run by the rules of the notorious ‘Fiji Time’ (i.e. Turning up haphazardly any time) so maybe go for a taxi/minibus anyway if you’re on a tight schedule! hire car was great, but the locals do drive a bit reckless and therefor there was an expensive accident excess, lucky for us we did not have an accident but there was one or two close shaves (small logs falling off the back of a truck, a driver almost backing into us in a hotel car park), the main road is okey but the other roads were in poor condition, we did't try the bus so cannot coment. I had to get from Suva right across to the other end of Fiji island and it cost an absolute pittance. You have to share with others, but that's fun, and the driver will stop when you ask for pee stops or a drink! Leave a Comment Theme: Other
