 | French Polynesia General Tips | Tips 41 - 50 of 100 | | Because I was the only one in the group who speaks French, it was up to me to talk to vendors and order lunch. We all had chop steak, chips, and water or soft drinks. I personally took an Orangina. All I bought were 20 postcards for 1/4 of my list. I still have my postcard list from that trip came from Tahiti. We visited a farmer's market with even more unusual fruits, some I hadn't even seen at breakfast that morning. Leave a Comment

Relax and have a drink at a cafe or brasserie. Feels a little bit like Paris. Leave a Comment

Good info on the painter's life story, however none of his major works of art are displayed here. There are original letters and a few prints. The museum shows the present location of his works throughout the world. Open daily - 9:00-17:00, admission Leave a Comment

On our last day, a half day tour of Tahiti was included. Here is one of the picturesque churches we passed. The island of Tahiti in general is not as attractive as the other surrounding islands. Most people fly into Tahiti but then fly or take the ferry the other islands. Leave a Comment

I didn't but a lot of other people rented these little vehicles. We opted for bicycles.....a cheap alternative, probably more comfortable, with the added benefit of burning calories. Don't think any of these little cars made it all the way around, at least we didn't see them. Leave a Comment

so indicative of of these islands. Again, the lagoon off Club Med, Moorea. Although I've heard the beach and water off the island of Tahiti are not so clean. I personally would not stay on that island. Leave a Comment

in a tropical aquarium. There is good shallow and deep water snorkeling in Bora Bora and Moorea. I would say it's comparable to Hawaii though, not really any better. Leave a Comment

Of course snorkeling tours are available on all of the islands. And it's easy to just go on your own as well. Think we signed up for this tour because it was the only way to access this popular lagoon off Club Med. Leave a Comment

Overwater bungalows are sort of symbolic of Tahiti and her islands. While snorkeling off the beach at Hotel Sofitel (Moorea) one of the guests invited me to see his rented bungalow. The views from the porch were awesome. Not that I'd stay in one for $500+ a night, but I can understand why they are so expensive. Inside was a glass coffeetable where you could view the fish swimming below. Leave a Comment
