Fresh Fish by easyoar Les Tipaniers is a restaurant bolted on to a hotel of the same name. They do excellent fresh fish - a Polynesian speciality. The Polynesian deserts are great too with fresh fruit cooked in various ways. By Polynesian standards the prices are quite reasonable too. Service was very friendly, but we did find we had to wait a long time to be served.

The Sign! by saraheg77 Mark and I thought this was the best food we ate while on Moorea! The service was good for us, but we heard it could get pretty slow when it got busier, so if you go, try to get there early! It is closed on Wednesday and opened every other day from 11am - 2:30pm and 6pm-9:30pm. Main dinner courses are anywhere from about $15-$35. Mastercard and Visa are accepted.
I had a very yummy puff pastry with shrimp & scallops and a tasty creamy sauce and Mark had a shrimp dish in curry sauce that was SOOO good! They also have a nice selection of Chinese food on the menu, but we didn't try it. We heard it was great, too, though! Leave a Comment

Me in La Plantation by saraheg77 Mark and I really enjoyed this restaurant. The food was very good, but they really stood out as having great, friendly service. The waitress chatted with us and the hostess was bringing around flower leis for us to put on and she took a picture for us. There was bread brought out as an appetizer and the food came out pretty quickly (although it wasn't busy when we were there). We had a nice seat outside, but on a deck. There was lots of nice seating both inside and outside the restaurant with all the windows opened. If you only had one night to choose a place to eat in town, I would recommend this restaurant!
I had a fun dish that had king fish and sword fish braided together with a yummy, creamy sauce. It was very tasty! We also had a nice dessert that was called something like Three Chocolates. La Plantation by ATXtraveler If you only have one night in Moorea, you are missing out on some delicious restaurants. But if you have to make a decision on where you will choose to eat your only meal, I would make it La Plantation. While I thought that the food itself at Le Mahogany was slightly better, the service at La Plantation is second to none. Sarah and I tend to eat a little earlier in the evening, so that we miss the crowds and really get better service and the best tasting cuts of meat from the restaurant, and this was no exception. I had a wonderful steak with a rich French Mushroom sauce, and Sarah enjoyed a Kingfish/Mahi Mahi braid of seafood. The owner of the restaurant, and two waiters were there to service our every need, and uncommon of the other restaurants, our water was always full. In addition, our waitress was very friendly and wanted to practice her English, which she was already quite good at! All around, I would rate this a 9 out of 10 as the best place we had on the island. Chez Luciano by ATXtraveler Although this is one of the last restaurants that we went to while we are on Moorea, I wrote this tip first because when you visit you will notice just how many pizza restaurants there are. It seems to be the national food of Moorea! Although we did not try all of the Pizza places, we did stop in at Chez Luciano for a great piece of Pizza Pie! While by most accounts I would call this pizza average at best, the staff at Chez Luciano makes you feel very welcome, including the chef himself making dead cat noises and wearing crazy masks while scaring local video renters!
The bleu cheese pizza was excellent, as was the ham and cheese pizza. Leave a Comment Theme: PizzaPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averagePhone: 56.15.20Directions: Western side of the islandWebsite: none

by Agraichen The cruise director from the Windstar pointed us to this place. We'd seen it and used it's interente cafe thinking we'd wander back for lunch. Just down the street at the Black Pearl Co. we ran into the cruise director and he indicated he and his wife ate there 2-3 times a month when they had time on the island.
Pizza....well, I must admit, I have had better, but not recently. Great tasting crust and just the right combination of sauce and toppings. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averagePhone: 56 16 70Directions: "main street" across from Club Med

Te Honu Iti by ATXtraveler As we sat in the lobby of our hotel room waiting for "pickup" which you will learn is the key to dining in Moorea, another couple which we had transported with a night before was sitting there waiting for their ride. We conversed again, and they mentioned going to Chez Rodger, the place named "Best on the Island" by many people. I replied... well I think we are going to Te Honu Iti, which I am pretty sure is well documented as "Best on the Island"... so we will have to compare notes! Sure enough when the restaurant van pulled up, we jumped in as he said Te Honu Iti, yet he was waiting for another couple... after 2 minutes of waiting, he called out "Anyone for Chez Rodger"? We all had a chuckle. When you arrive at the restaurant, the first thing you want to do is ask for a bay view. The restaurant overlooks Cook's Bay, so go around sunset for a stunning early dinner. If you are not an early eater, make sure you show up around 7:30 then, when the scraps for the tables are sent out to the large stingrays hanging out just outside the window!
I had the veal chop which was delicious and pictured here below. The Bernaise sauce that came with it may have been one of the best sauces I have had, and I am a very saucy kind of guy! Leave a Comment

Live on Stage! by Geisha_Girl Alfredo's Restaurant boasts that it's "No. 1 in Moorea!" At least according to the tourist guide they toss at you at every kiosk in the airport! We were in the mood for Italian that night, so Alfredo's sounded like a MUST SEE! We referred to our trusty tourist guide and saw that Alfredo's offered FREE transportation from our hotel. Excellent! We also read that there is "Live Entertainment" every Thursday and Sunday. What was today? Sunday! Excellent again! We called Alfredo's to arrange our pickup, and to find out what the entertainment was that evening. "Blues" they told us. More and more excellent! We were picked up in front of Les Tipaniers Iti and snuggled into a mini-van full of other Tourists. Our fellow vanpoolers were 2 "honeymoon" couples from the U.S. who compared each other's "Bridal showers" and "Bachelor Parties" throughout the entire ride to the restaurant. ("Dude, noooo wayyyyyy!" )
We arrived at the restaurant famished and ready to be entertained by some "BB King" or "Ray Charles" kinda entertainment. (We made sure to be seated right in front of the entertainment and wayyyyyy away from the Dudes and Dudettes!) Our "Blues" entertainment turned out to be a one-man band. A sort of Willie Nelson meets Peter, Paul, and Mary. He wasn't so bad actually. The highlight was when he asked for audience participation. His first victim? Yours truly. Somehow he zeroed in on the Asian chick in the audience. Does he know he's messin' with the Karaoke QUEEN??!!!! He asked if I would come up on the "stage" and sing a duet with him. At first I denied it because I really hadn't added Willie Nelson or Johnny Cash to my repertoire. He asked what song I knew.......and before I could even say a word, he was "strumming my life with his fingers" and belted out (I kid you NOT): "First I was afraid, I was petrified............." OMG, how did he know Gloria Gaynor's BIGGEST hit, "I Will Survive" was the Lemon-Drop Girlz Theme song???!!! by beaverk This is a gem in a paradise. A restaurant on a yacht, sits only about 40 people max. The food, the wine, the services, the music and dancing, the fresh Tahitian seafood...why did I ever leave Moorea!!!???
All the fish dishes are excellent. The food has an heavy French flavor to it. Which is a great thing! Le Mahogany Curried Shrimp by ATXtraveler Please heed this warning now! As many of you know, I go 6'3 and 300 lbs, so I know good food when I taste it. I also enjoy a good bit of spice, as I see no point in eating bland food. I know what good food is! If you are a true "foodie" skip over everything else on the menu at Le Mahogany and go straight for the curried shrimp here. It truly is the best meal I had on the island, bar none. It had just enough curry to leave your mouth salivating, but just enough coconut to keep you coming back for more. The service was a tad slow, and the staff was not as friendly as other places we ate, but I would sacrifice that all again to have more curried shrimp here!
