Sunset cruise
by Helga67
Several islands offer sunset tours. In case you are located on the wrong side of the island, a boat or catamaran will bring you to the other side of the island where you can watch the sun going down. It's so romantic.
Casual but bring something with long sleeves for when it gets dark. It will be a little bit windy on the boat.

Most nightlife is concentrted in Papeete where there are clubs and bars.In the islands, hotels generally have a band playing at the bar and the locals will be regulars at the ones with the good reputation of the moment. There are also polynesian shows with local dance groups. In Moorea, Club Med has a GO show and a nightclub open to the public every night. But nightlife is at its best in July when a yearly celebration takes place with dance, music, arts and craft and rowing competitions in most islands.
One word: Casual!

On Raiatea there is a Chinese restaurant right in the harbor area that looks like a hole in the wall. Apparently, there is a disco either in or above this restaurant and most of the cruise ship people go there to party the night away. I heard it was a great time!
Everything in French Polynesia is casual

Avoid nightlife in Tahiti at all cost! Tahiti has the highest AIDS per capia in the Pacific region because of the crossroad of the Pacific. Polynesian people desparately need your tourist money by selling their bodies. They are dying and spreaded rapidly. It is not worth for your life by going to bars, nightclubs, brothels and mingling with Polynesian women and men.. It is too dangerous especially for French tourists. They would destroy your prospect future!

Eating and drinking under the tropical sky at the harbour, listening to the local music and chatting to the locals and fellow travellers, breathing in the scent of the flowers - could anything be better?
casual - but take a cardigan with you as the sun sets it can get chilly and you will not want to leave until late!
Sunrise-Sunset
by Helga67
Those islands have some amazing sunrises and sunsets. You only have sun from 6 am to 6 pm, so you have to enjoy every minute of it
Local beer
by Helga67
Hinano is the local Polynesian beer, and about the only beer that you will find on most of the islands. Give it a try.
Polynesia dance
by Helga67
There is not much nightlife on the islands but most of the hotels offer nights of special acitvities such as Polynesian dance or some Polynesian cultural activity like "how to wear a pareo" ....
