We decided to do a bit of 4-wheeling in the mountains; this time around with a guide that could tell us about the area. The thunder clouds spoild the "sunny view" but the lush forests were incredible.
As we travelled our guide would point out the various vegetation, flowers, fruits and allow us to sample some. The ginger plants were amazing...dripping in a clear lotion like liquid that is used for hair conditioner.
We travelled to Opoa village, the Marae Taputapuatea (one of the most sacred locations) and then about half way up Mt Temahani, home of Oro, the god of war.
