  • The restaurant has a sand floor. When you walk in all the food that is available to eat(mostly fresh fish caught that day) is on display on a bed of ice.The manager, Craig, explains what everything is and you pick exactly what you want from what is on display. Execllent!

  • No restaurant in particular. I had the chance to have my auntie and my cousins grill fish seconds after catching them.

  • Tip Rating:
  • McDonald's Restaurant is the paradise of all in French Polynesia! Good, safe, clean and cheap food! That will make you to feel American pride after eating Big Mac and tasty french potato fries! Seafood in Tahiti contains lethal poisonous-tainted substances because they picked up from polluted lagoons nearby sewage waste disposal from tourist hotels. Remote islands without any tourist commercial activities are generally safe for eating seafood as long as they cook well.
McDonald's Restaurant has air conditioning that keeps you cool inside! Hot humid and sticky with a swarm of mosquitoes will ruin your day in Tahiti and so, McDonald's Restaurant will save your day by staying inside of nice cool air atmosphere! The price is expensive but affordable for your stomach needs. You will love it!

McDonald's Big Mac, McDonald's Double Cheeseburgers, French Fries, Apple Pie, Chocolate Milk Shake - It was delicious - WoW! It is the best food of all in French Polynesia!

    FRENCH BAGUETTE
To me personally, food is not cheap in French Polynesia. And when you are on an island paradise and surrounded by tourists hotels, you certainly cannot expect to find bargains. Instead, you will see a lot of multi-ethnic expensive meals geared for tourists’ tastes.

Still, you cannot go wrong with the cheapest snack available : long, crispy French baguette cut open and stuffed with salad, tuna, ham and cheese or whatever you have ordered. Costs between 300 to 600 Polynesian Francs.

    SUPERMARKETS
Alternatively, run to the supermarkets and stock up on French baguettes, canned food, spaghetti, cookies and other items and cook your own meals in the kitchen of the hostel. Not the cheapest groceries ever but saves you big bucks.

In Moorea, there is a supermarket at Le Petit Village in Hauru Point and a bigger one when you come out of the village Paopao at Cook’s Bay (if you did the trek from the Ferry Point to Paopao).

Bloody Mary's on Bora Bora is THE famous spot. Otherwise, the Society islands are surprisingly uncommercialized.

Bloody Mary's on Bora Bora...we had our best meal for the money here. Even after reading about how expensive food was in French Polynesia, I was still shocked.
The food here was excellent...closer to what you'd expect in Hawaii or California. The service is non-friendly...the atmosphere is a bit touristy.

The food at the Sheraton was very good. We also ate at Alfredo's and LeCochera (sp?). We tried to visit Le Mahogany twice because it had been recommended several times, but were unable to eat there. All of the food on the island was good.
The restaurant at the Sheraton is on the second story and overlooks the ocean. There is inside and outside seating available. The atmosphere at Alfredo's is quaint and they offer live entertainment.

The Sheraton has a good selection on the menu. Even the steaks were great. The seafood bar on the weekend is great! Anything on Alfredo's menu is a good choice.
