Very close to the Moorea Ferry port is a little harbour area where you get quite a few street sellers all congregated together. They range from selling Chinese type food to French style crepes (pancakes with either sweet or savoury fillings). It is much cheaper to buy and eat here (most have picnic style tables and chairs) where you can sit and eat your food. I can certainly recommend the crepes - they were excellent!

Saveurs des isles by ATXtraveler I have never been one to choose hotel food over a good local restaurant, so Sarah and I decided to venture into town from the Sheraton Tahiti. We were told there were several restaurants close, but ended up walking a couple miles to the downtown area of Papeete. We found a lovely little French restaurant here and decided to pop in. Saveurs had a pretty limited menu of chicken of fish, but had some delicious sounding choices, I went with the Poulet de Arachides (which the owner said was peanut chicken). When it came out it was actually cashews... but delicious all the less. Sarah had the lemon chicken, which may have a little curry added to it. Also great! I would highly recommend you also try the spicy relish that comes with the french bread... I could not get enough... but it is a little hot for the average eater and Sarah did not care for it. For dessert, save room for the Moelleux au Chocolat. It was great... the best Moelleux I have had (amazingly, it was also the first)! by grets We are picked up by the restaurant's own 4WD, and the road is incredibly steep and winding. At one stage we are driving on the crest of the mountain with a steep drop either side of the single track road. Higher and higher and higher we go. I can see why the restaurant provides free transport - they wouldn't get any passing trade! The vire is quite incredible! Sitting on the balcony with the French doors wide open, eating Fondue while the setting sun is painting the clouds in beautiful shades of pink and the lights below in the city of Papeete twinkle in the dusk. Again, when we got here the valley was shrouded in mist, which has cleared in time for the sun to go down behind the mountain. We all enjoy the Fondue with all the different sauces, salads and French fries, and as much wine as you can drink. And we do. Stupid me forgot the voucher. They are very trusting: just give it to the driver when he drops you off! Leave a Comment Theme: French

Mana Rock Cafe by ATXtraveler After what seemed like a huge journey, and after a couple stops to tend to Sarah's poor blistered foot, we finally arrived at the Mana Rock Cafe, desperately in search of internet access to send our parents notes letting them know thier babies were alright! While there we got to experience Hinano and also water! Boy were we thirsty. Anyway, I can not comment much on the taste of the food, as we had just eaten elsewhere, but the drinks were cold, and the internet access was great! Leave a Comment

Sarah, Soda, and Moana Cafe by ATXtraveler There is a nice little cafe that is open air right next to the ferry docks, so if you are not blessed with perfect timing to get directly on the ship, stop in and enjoy a soda, or more importantly... a scoop of ice cream! They also had sandwiches and small baked goods!
I enjoyed a scoop of pistachio ice cream while we waited! Leave a Comment Theme: Autogrill/Rest StopPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: Next to Ferry Docks

by grets Dinner is a buffet, with a choice of roast beef, lamb or pork with mixed vegetables and beans, rice or potatoes. Not a lot of choice really but it is quite nice all the same. I suppose the focus tonight is on the dancing, not the food. Leave a Comment Theme: Eclectic/International

Le Lotus Restaurant by holligolytly This overwater restaurant is elegant with an intimate atmosphere. The service is execellent and the kitchen is open so you can watch as the chef prepares your food.
We enjoyed the most delicious and romantic meal here, including a lobster bisque, a fabulous tuna paté and filet mignon. Leave a Comment
