We are picked up by the restaurant's own 4WD, and the road is incredibly steep and winding. At one stage we are driving on the crest of the mountain with a steep drop either side of the single track road. Higher and higher and higher we go. I can see why the restaurant provides free transport - they wouldn't get any passing trade!
The vire is quite incredible! Sitting on the balcony with the French doors wide open, eating Fondue while the setting sun is painting the clouds in beautiful shades of pink and the lights below in the city of Papeete twinkle in the dusk. Again, when we got here the valley was shrouded in mist, which has cleared in time for the sun to go down behind the mountain.
We all enjoy the Fondue with all the different sauces, salads and French fries, and as much wine as you can drink. And we do. Stupid me forgot the voucher. They are very trusting: just give it to the driver when he drops you off!

Dinner is a buffet, with a choice of roast beef, lamb or pork with mixed vegetables and beans, rice or potatoes. Not a lot of choice really but it is quite nice all the same. I suppose the focus tonight is on the dancing, not the food.

This overwater restaurant is elegant with an intimate atmosphere. The service is execellent and the kitchen is open so you can watch as the chef prepares your food.
Favorite Dish: We enjoyed the most delicious and romantic meal here, including a lobster bisque, a fabulous tuna paté and filet mignon.

Favorite Dish: Fresh fish caught that day. Watch the family clean them at the water and toss the waste portions to the sharks.

Papeete is a busy town with lots of traffic and lots of people. The interior of the island is a total contrast; lush, green, unspoilt and very wet!
