Learn how to surf, at least try! There are heaps of surfing schools. Do some bushwalking as well. Visit Byron bay in N.S.W. , great beaches relaxed atmosphere and excellent parties. Go to the Zoo and take some pictures of their unique animals. My time at Wollongong was amazing, I would say the best ever.I met people from all over the world. The city is quite small but the locals are very friendly. The scenery from the train that takes you from Sydney to Wollongong is spectacular, a mix of rainforest and beaches.

by MargieGo

It is hard to have a favorite memory when you have spent 30 years travelling a country.I will however say that I believe it is the people who are the real heart of the outback. You can meet some real characters and make some good friends. In the few times I have had to be away from my homeland, I have missed my family and the Australian people the most, the familiarity, and my home language, when I went to China.

by CarlyT

Go to Manly on the Northern shores of Sydney! It's a great surfing town, close to the city but without the city hassles! Best night out in Oz was in Byron Bay! Had dinner at the Cheap Italian for $5, washed down with some very cheap wine! Went back to the hostel and found a massive spider in our room! Then after finishing off some more cheap wine we danced the night away at Cocomangas Nightclub...with some very strange cocktails! Booze very much the main feature of the night...but very good fun!!

by sayedfardan

What to do? We decided that the cause of fighting for legalised beaches for nude bathing is more important than proving the point that naturist parents have children. We were willing to remove the slightest hints that there might have been children on our legal nude beaches and thus that there could have been children in the photos taken there.

There is no single most important activity! It depends what you are in to, and there really is something for everyone. My personal favourite is Western Australia: not just Pertth (the capital) but travelling up the coast to Monkey Mia, Broome and to the wine/surfing regions to the South. There is something unique in every state. The best thing about Australia is the people! We are among the friendliest, most fun loving people in the world and I can guarantee you will make plenty of friends here. When I am away from home I miss the smell of the gum trees, the clear blue skies, the people, the footy, the thunderstorms, and Arnotts Tim Tams! The Tim Tam Slam is a great institution in Australia, and something you should definitely ask about!
