People with Disabilities

by Trina2383

Guam's private businesses and government agencies, including the Guam Visitors Bureau, are aware of the special needs people with disabilities possess. In 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act was passed to ensure that, despite any disability, people are afforded the same opportunities as others. You will find that most private and public businesses have wheelchair ramps or elevators to easily accommodate people; Guam's public transportation also has special provisions. If buildings do not have these options, they are required by law to provide reasonable accommodations to assist people.î

You must drive from Rt 4 to Rt 2 (which run right into each other) all along the southern end of the island. The views are spectacular when you are on top of the mountains. The people of Guam are among the nicest I've met anywhere in the world. They love babies and we have an eight month old that I can't take in public without the locals (and Japanese tourists) stopping ot talk to her and tickle her feet.

Other than seeing what's around the tourist part of the island, you really should take a tour of the whole island and see all the historical and cultural aspects that Guam has to offer. There are so many to list but one for sure is the legend of Puntan Dos Amantes or Two Lover's point. It's just north of the hotel strip and you could see it from whatever seaside hotel room you may be in. I miss everything I've grown up knowing about this place. The girl next door I used to play with as a little boy, and ended up having a crush on her in later years. Believe it or not, going to the school there was a fond memory in itself. Spending more time at my grandmother's house than I did my own. I hope to one day pass by and see what's all changed. If you would like to know more about what it was like living there, please drop me a line.

Visit the beaches and enjoy snorkling or Scuba Diving. Gear can be rented from any of the local dive shops. My best memory was spending Christmas at the beach at Anderson AFB where we dug a pit in the sand and roasted a whole pig for Christmas dinner. I think it rained a couple of times during the day (it generaly rains somewhere on the island every day) but the sun dried things out quickly and we had a wonderful feast and a wonderful day.

Go snorkling by the coral reefs. It's cheap and it's beautiful. When your done go grab a bite to eat at the local market. Get some chomorro BBQ. Well i can't tell you my fondest memory but, i will tell you another one.... Chillin on the beach with my girl and watching the sun come up. The most beautiful beaches are on the Navy base. Get in some how...It's worth it!!!

Here is the hotel I stayed in, Hilton Hotel! It's just a corner of the lobby, beautiful in night and daytime!!! The best thing is the view from my room is so so beautiful, you can see that from my information pic, just like that!! Fabulous, huh?? If you choose to stay in Hilton, well, you can go to the night bar, very well-known!! And there will be a live band in night, i think that would make your trip more relax and romantic!! :>
