Marty's: Guam's Best Mexican

by JenNJohn

Marty's makes the best mexican food you can find on Guam. (Not that it has much competition). The atmosphere is fun, kind of a bar style. It's actually a bar attached to the main bowling alley of the island though it does have it's own entrance. A great night-on-the-town with your buddies kind of place. One perk the guys will love...the waitresses are usually dressed rather skimpy, cut off tees and daisy duke shorts. Their dishes are huge, sufficiantly cheesy and have real beans and ingredients, including fresh avacado. Marty's also makes some of the best margarita's in town be sure to give them a call and go when the pitchers are half price.

Jamaican Grill: Ribs & Reggae

by gypsysoul73

For dinner we went with another recommendation by Santos - the Jamaican Grill - for some jerk BBQ. We were joined by an old friend I hadn't seen since he moved away after high schoool and his friend (who turned out to be a former actor in the Philippines), both now residents of Guam. We shared the huge family platter of Kingston Jerk chicken and a slab of Boston Beach ribs served over a mountain of Jamaican rice with salad on the side. The restaurant had a festive ambience that pulsated to reggae beats and appeared to be very popular for families. The meat was juicy and moist and we dug in until there was nothing left but squeaky clean bones on our plates.

Shirley's Coffee Shop: Chamorro and Continental style diner

by gypsysoul73

After Kmart, we had breakfast at Shirley's Coffee Shop, the diner beside our hotel (recommended by Santos) that serves up hefty Chamorro, American and Asian comfort food. It's a daunting task perusing their large menu and faced with so many choices such as steaks, scrambles and omelettes, french toasts and waffles, porkchops, curries, yakisobas, country fried chicken, salmon fillets, English muffins, grilled seafood, sweet and sour pork and other Chinese stir-fries. Evetually I settled for the Chamorro sausage with eggs, Shirley's award-winning fried rice and some nice fluffy pancakes. The servings were huge but shopping can sure make you hungry. The Chamorro sausages were delicious! They were served sliced and fried to perfection, hot and spicy, just how I like 'em. The fried rice came chockful of diced ham, carrots, green onions and egg, and really was a meal on it's own. We washed it...

Ban Thai & Maharani's (2 restaurants): Inexpensive & spicy

by guamdiver

Both of these have dinner menus, but I mostly go for the lunch buffets....Ban Thai is 7.95 for the buffet (tea is extra) and they'll have 2 kinds of rice, ~5 different entrees, 2 salads & dessert. Really good, and a great price. Located in Tumon, across from the Acanta Mall (closest hotel would be Grand Plaza)Maharani's (Indian) has a lunch buffet for $10, including tea...but the naan (Indian bread, like a tortilla) is an extra $2.50. There will be 2 kinds of rice, about 4 meat entrees, 4 or 5 vegetarian selections, and 1 dessert. I've heard the dinner is good as well, but I tend to go towards the lunch buffets...eat enough then so I don't have to bother with dinner! It's just next to the Westin Hotel up on the top of the hill in Tumon.I've lived here 12 years and these are probably the two restaurants we frequent the most.

AjiIchi: Try the fried chicken

by pangelipc

Good food, reasonably priced & something for everyone. They have sushi, noodles, fried chicken, and kid meals. Friendly & fast service. We love their fried chicken -- kaarge chicken. Their salad comes with the meal & my only comment is sometimes they don't provide enough rice.

McDonald's: Kid fun & if you want cheap & fast

by pangelipc

Everyone knows about McDonald's. My kids love it -- especially the french fries. The tamuning location has an indoor play area for the kids to climb & slide. The usual fare found throughout the US. French fries & double cheeseburgers (on their value menu).

Capricciosa: Huge pasta dishes

by pangelipc

Large restaurant --especially if you go to their Agana location. They have 2 other sites in Tumon -- one at the Pleasure island end (across the Westin) and another in the Royal Orchid Hotel. Large pasta bowls which are good to share with 2 or even 3 people. Friendly staff & lots of extra bowls & cheese to share. I love their Seafood Spaghetti, and their soupy lasagna.

Carmen's Restaurant: Tasty -- salsa & chips

by pangelipc

Mexican food in festive atmosphere & colorful decorations.Margaritas are good -- would be better if they used fresh fruit. Platters are quite large & good for sharing. Some Fridays they have live music. If you are in the area after seeing the sites in Agana, Guam's capital, and want to cool off come here. If you are hungry I recommend a burrito. Their soft tacos were also quite good.

Toh ka lin: Chinese Food

by pangelipc

Nice ambience. Provide you with warm towel to wipe your hands & authentic Chinese chopsticks with holders. It reminds me of nice restaurants in HK. Service can be pretty good.We went there for Mother's day & they provided moms with a flower which was pretty nice. There was also a play area outside of the restaurant for the kids to play.Food was average. Normally when we order family style -- separate dishes that we all share the food is definitely better. Normally I like their cold appetizers (jelly type seafood) & duck (but you have to special order ahead of time).

Lone Star: Steak & Entertainment

by pangelipc

If you want to experience the Texas in a restaurant, come here. They have all sorts of memorabilia for decoration. You'll see locals & tourists eating here. The food is great. I love their lunch specials -- you can have a meal for under $10. Dinner is also very good, but a bit pricier. But the quantity is much larger than lunch. Have their appetizers -- cheesy french fries or their onion rings or even mushrooms. My kids love their bread rolls since they come with this flavored butter. YUM. Service is also pretty good most of the time. I love the lunch steak with either baked potato or baked sweet potato. They offer toppings which I always get on the side so I can control my calories. Both come perfectly cooked. Another second runner up is their grilled porkchop, which always comes out perfectly -- not dry & tough.
