Jeff's Pirates Cove and Treasure island Gift Shop: The Works

by Trina2383

If you are down in the southern part of Guam be sure to stop by. Have some Haagen Dazs ice cream or an ice cold Budweiser. On the first Sunday in December and June, Jeff's features the Pirates Cove Arts and crafts fairs, with over 100 participants presenting their handiwork. Jeff's Pirates Cove t-shirts are a must have souvenirs of your trip to Guam. The Cove is know to be one of the finest beach bars on the island! Jeff's always has fresh fish and Chamoru Fiesta favorites.

Top o' the Mar: Top o' the Mar

by Texapina

Mongolian BBQ...sold by weight, cooked in huge outdoor vats while you wait and watch the sun set. You can eat indoors, but most folks prefer to eat on the outdoor patio. Everything, especially their weekly Mongolian BBQ.

Jeff's Pirate Cove: Away from the maddening crowd

by geekgrrl

This is a combination site: restaurant, museum, swimming cove. chicken Kelaguen - a local dish made with chicken, lemon juice, coconut, onion, and red hot peppers. I had the Fiesta Plate for $10 which included “a combination of local favorites-BBQ chicken, BBQ Ribs (Jeff’s uses ironwood for cooking, which imparts a special flavor tot eh well-marinated ribs and chicken), red rice [I am not sure what makes it the bright red-orange that it is] marlin and chicken Kelaguens, and a side salad.

Shirley's: Great local restaurant

by geekgrrl

Shirley's is THE local restaurant with various locations on the island. It is where people go to eat good food at a very inexpensive price. I usually had breakfast at Shirley's. If you like your bacon crispy, make sure you ask for 'crispy bacon'. The fried rice is a delicious specialty.

Niji: Wonderful Teppanyaki

by geekgrrl

We went to this restaurant for the teppanyaki room. It was a truly magnificent meal. Our meal was enormous. We started off with an appetizer – pickled daikon, shrimp salad, and then they started up with the grill. Our chef was nice but not very flamboyant, more subtle. The fish course included scallops (3 each), salmon (2 small filets), and 3 large prawns. Then he mixed the veggies: eggplant, red and green peppers, onion, garlic, and sprouts. The steak were tenderloin, with garlic at our request, and absolutely wonderful! We also had white rice and egg drop soup.

If looking for a really nice dinner you have to go to Roy's thats my favorite no matter where I go and it's located at the Hilton in Tumon. If you want some fish and BBQ in front of the ocean with some live reggae and a very cold beer you have to go to Jeff Pirates Cove located in Talofofo. At Roys the seabass with one of those different great sauces or chutneys they always have with some mashed sweet potatoes and a caesar salad and you have to have the chocolate souffle and the coffee they brew it on the table and it has a great taste. And at Jeff Pirates Cove the fish kelaguen and a fiesta plate a cold Bud and you are set.

My favourite resturant is the Jamacian Grill. Its located in the Chamorro Village and near the water. One of my favourite things about this resturant was one special water. He was an older German man, and flirt! This man puts Don Juan to shame! Hey! Its good for ones ego!The atmosphere is pure island style, slow, easy and fun! My favourite dish was the Chicken and Rice salad! It is to die for, and the portions are huge! They also have fruit tea, its the best!

This is a tough one! First there is the outback steakhouse which is meant to be an Australian restaurant. If you are from Australia you have probably never heard of a bloomin' onion and have probably never eaten Kookaburra wings, and for some reason they don't even have Vegemite on the menu! Then there is Sam Choys Restaurant which serves Hawaiian Cuisine. Then, for that late night meal after a night out, there is Dennys. Dennys is cheap and most of the menu is great, however, the service sucks! At Sam Choys the bar is definitely the main attraction (other than the food). It is an oval shape and has built in fish tanks as the counter tops with live fish swimming under your glasses. At Outback they serve great steak and great fish of the day. The bloomin' onions are great also. At Sam choys you have to try the fried rice. The Loco Moco is my favourite lunch menu item and the Ribs are a...

Gotta go to the Chamorro village by taking the shuttle bus located across the Tamuning Plaza Hotel in the Alupang Beach tower or make use of the cheap rental cars available. Local food stalls, mostly at about $5 a plate! Check out Wednesday's night market - Good food, entertainment and local and tourist crowd! Can't beat the price and the fiesta atmosphere on the Wednesday nighs! Its not an enclosed building, so you can feel the cool ocean breeze and smell the great barbecue! Get one of those fiesta plates, that includes the Guam fiesta food staples such as the red rice, pancit, barbecue chicken and ribs, and local salad.
