K-Mart: Attention Kmart Shoppers...

While visiting Guam, one must take time to make the holy pilgrimage to that bastion of American consumerism: KMART. This particular Kmart is life line of sundries not just for Guam, but the Micronesia area in general...

Hurry before the whole corporation implodes into bankrupcy... (A clear and present danger...)

Micronesia Mall is the largest American-style shopping mall in the Western Pacific. In addition to their 120 shops, boutiques and restaurants, they also have a Macy's department store and a Pay-Less Supermarket. The Mall is also home to 10 theaters that play the latest movie attractions. The Food Court is home to 19 restaurants and has a seating capacity of 750 people. As you relax and eat, the kids can amuse themselves at the Mall's "Funtastic Park," an indoor amusement center with rides and games. All in all, Micronesia Mall has something for everyone.

  • Guam has its share of high end stores that cater to the rich Japanese tourists who visit. They don't let me type into those types of shops.

Guam Premium Outlets has a variety of outlet shops within its facility that sell name-brand merchandise at discounted prices. But the best shop would have to be ROSS. Isn't that just crazy! A Ross, but no Wal-Mart!
Guam Premium Outlets also contains a large food court that offers an array of international cuisine. Chamorro, Japanese, Chinese, Filipino and American eating establishments commit themselves to satisfying any craving you may have. . ...Happy Shopping!!!

Before coming to Guam, make out you "wish list." We have so many temptations, you'd better bring an empty suitcase. But in case you buy more than you'd planned, we even have a full line of tote bags, trunks and other travel gear available.
The best buys include gold, jade and coral jewelry, watches, cosmetics, clothing, liquor, stereo equipment, diving and sports equipment; and, designer dresses and clothing accessories.
Many of the intricately designed Micronesian handicrafts are found in Guam. Handicrafts, Marshallese navigation charts, woven baskets, Phonpeian hand-carved sharks from mangrove wood, and wooden Palauan storyboards are just a few of the items from this ocean region. Many handicrafts make excellent gifts, as well as lasting mementos of your visit to the island.

Items especially popular with Guam shoppers include batik dresses and other clothing from Bali, baht chains from Thailand and the now-rare Vietnamese gold teals, Korean silk dresses, and colorful locally made T-shirts

    Guam Premier Outlet (GPO): outlets

  • Generally, outlets contain a lot of shops - this is where the expensive stuffs are usually sold at a cheaper price. As far as I could remember, the shops there were Ross, Nine West, Payless Shoe Source, Nike, Levi's and there are a whole lot of shoe store. Also, there are some souvenir shops just before you go down to the food court. Which, by the way, Burger King has the most accomodating people. :)

Shoes, bags, clothes and of course, souvenirs.

You pay in US dollars, I don't think they accept the $1 dollar coin anymore. Aside from that, they accept anything - dimes, pennys, bills. If you're like going to do a major shopping, bring enough cash cos there are a lot of buys in this place - generally shoes.

    K-Mart: The Big K

  • The K-mart on Guam is said to be the world's largest, but I think it just seems that way, because the island is so small and even the smallest stores take up a lot of space.

Well, as you would guess the prices are jacked up just a bit...ok ok...a lot, but they are open 24 hours a day, so that's always a plus!!

    K-mart: Open til midnight

  • I'm sure a lot of you know this already but for me, the main great thing about this store is that it's open til midnight. As the other malls/stores in Guam close early, you can plan your shopping trips such that you can always save K-mart for last on any given day. And since its not just a grocery/supermarket you can rest assured that you will still be able to buy other items like clothes, books, shoes, etc.

Watch out for good buys like shoes that are less than $20 if you buy another pair for the regular price.

elegant designer malls: Guam is a shoppers paradise
  • By bmiller39 on October 2, 2004

  • Guam has two large shopping plaza's the specialize in tourist type of luxury items. The Tuman sands plaza has a tiffany's rolex watch store, cartier, burberry, etc and the DFS (duty free shopping) plaza has about the same. Both shopping areas are heavily advertised and do a brisk business as the Japanese tourists really help the local economy with thier purchases. There is also a K mart and that is a hugely popular store. Two other malls are on the island..Micronesia mall and GPO (Guam Premium Outlet) which have excellent food courts.

Designer clothes, upscale watches, and fashionable jewelry. However, even without the taxes (no taxes on Guam), they still seem pricey.

    Full retail.

Coming from Milan I thought this was total madness, but I am sure a lot of Japanese will find it really cheap!

Prada, Armani, D&G, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Bottega Veneta, Fendi, Cartier, Bvlgari, Tiffany... you name it!

A lot more than in Milan a lot less than in Tokyo ;)

We spent most of our time at the Guam Premium Outlets or GPO, that housed stores such as Ross, Anne Klein, BCBG, Payless Shoe Source, Nine West, Nike Sports, Guess & Levi's. So we hopped-on and hopped-off the open-air trolleys conveniently, unloading bags at the hotel just 5 minutes away and going back for more. They just make it too easy for you to spend your money here!
