 | Guam Things To Do | Tips 1 - 10 of 86 | | Fort Soledad is an old Spanish installations that sits on a hilltop on the south side of Umatac Bay. Quite an attractive stretch of coast line is to be had here, and quite historic as well. This is the bay that Magellan sailed into in 1521, not so long before being killed in the Phillippines on his round the world journey. It remained a major Spanish port of call in the Pacific for centuries there after.... Leave a Comment

Nice beach side park at Gaan with some World War 2 memorabilia to look at including an anti aircraft gun, a coastal defense gun, and and some partially intact Japanese defense bunkers... (this area was a major invasion point when the US attacked Guam in July 1944. Leave a Comment

Although this may seem bizarre to Americans, gun ranges one of the most popular tourist activities for the many Korean, Japanese, and Taiwanese tourist that visit Guam. And so, young men and women from these places line up at one of the many gun ranges in Guam and blast away... Some of these places are decorated like Clint Eastwood westerns to give a little old west ambviance to the target practice... Guess our image as a gun loving culture does generate a few tourist dollars out here in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Leave a Comment

The Guam Statue of Liberty is standing tall amongst the palm trees at Agana Harbor. Although small and typhoon damaged, (a few of the spokes coming out of her head are missing) this is a scenic spot, and having a tropical background for Lady Liberty does make an interesting photo op... (Pleas see my Chiayi, Taiwan page for another setting for Lady Liberty...) Leave a Comment

Two Lovers Point sits high upon a cliff just north of the tourist enclave of Tumon bay. Chamorro legend has it that two young lover leapt to their death here, having been forbidden to be together... Nice place for views of the West Coast of Guam... Note: The current monument is not the original, which was destroyed by a typhoon. Note the cables that are now securing the current statue... Well say what u want about Tumon Bay, it certain has its good points and bad points. The bay is attractive, with clear water and nice coral growth, and access to water sports here is good. Also, if you're in Guam for shopping, I suppose that there isnt much that cant be had around here. The problem is its just a little to built up. Hugh concrete high rise hotels line the bay. (Waikiki-ish feel) And the amount of tourist schlock about gives the area a bit of an unappealing feel. I much prefer the other less developed islands of Micronesia to Guam, but if find here, I'm sure u can find ways to enjoy yourself for a few days... Leave a Comment

It's Pacific Islands Club, the most famous Sports, Entertainment, and Activities department in Guam!! So many water activities in there, whatever scuba diving (Swim-thru Aquarium), windsurfing, water basketball, archery, beach volleyball, squash, pools and slides!!!If you stay here until night, then you can watch the dinner show from native Guam! Very colorful! If you really love water activities, maybe you could choose to live in PIC Hotel!! Because you can use all equipment in PIC in any time, that could save your money a lot!!! Leave a Comment Directions: It's convenient to come here, maybe you just need to take a bus to there, easy to go there!!Other Contact: You can also go scuba diving in

See the ancient Latte stones, some of which can be found in downtown Agana, near the Plaza de Espana. Nobody knows what these stones were actually used for, but there are two prevailing theories: (1) The foundation for the ancient Chamorro "Big Man" houses. (2) The grinding stone for some sort of ancient brew of Chamorro Cafe Latte. I guess we will never know for sure... Leave a Comment

One of my favorite activities on Guam is hiking, or what the locals call boonie stomping. Guam has a number of great hikes, whether the destination is a secluded beach miles from the nearest road or a pristine waterfall cascading down from the mountainous interior of the island. Sella Bay - Sella was the site of a Chamorro village until the 1800's when it was displaced by the Spanish. Sella Bay is well known for its masonry brick oven and Spanish era cut stone bridge over the Sella River, close to the shoreline. Sella Bay is a fascinating place to explore, and it makes for a nice weekend camping trip as well. The trail down from Route 4 is not terribly difficult, though the climb up to the highway can be difficult in the heat of the day. Though it is possible to snorkel here, it is usually too silty from the two rivers that flow into Sella Bay to make it worthwhile. Leave a Comment Directions: The Sella Bay trailhead is located just south of Agat, directly below Mt. Lamlam, Guam's highest peak

Once the seat of government for the Spanish, American and Japanese administrations, Plaza de Espaņa is probably the most visited historic site on the island. I walked around the Plaza, or what used to be. The Plaza offers visitors an opportunity to picnic and learn much about the island's colonial past at the same time. Signs tell tourists mostly about the Spanish-era in Japanese and English, and you have the opportunity to see some of the renovated structures, such as the Chocolate House. With its thick manposteria walls, which were made from coral and limestone mortar, many of the original buildings would probably still be around today if it wasn't for the heavy bombardment by American forces in the 1944 recapture of the island. Leave a Comment Address: Marine corp route 1 across from Latte parkDirections: Take Route 1/Marine Corps Drive south (stay in the right-hand lane) and make the loop at the Chief Quipuha Park to Route 4. While on Route 4, take a right at the second intersection on to West O'Brien Drive.
