Janie's Got a Gun

by kenmerk

Although this may seem bizarre to Americans, gun ranges one of the most popular tourist activities for the many Korean, Japanese, and Taiwanese tourist that visit Guam. And so, young men and women from these places line up at one of the many gun ranges in Guam and blast away... Some of these places are decorated like Clint Eastwood westerns to give a little old west ambviance to the target practice...Guess our image as a gun loving culture does generate a few tourist dollars out here in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

Yokoi's Cave

by kenmerk

Named for a Japanese Soldier, who held out until 1974. (28 years after the end of WW2) The cave is located about 10 minutes away from Talofofo Waterfall. (The area is swampy and mosquito infested, I don't think I would have lasted 45 minutes....)

Statue of Liberty

by kenmerk

The Guam Statue of Liberty is standing tall amongst the palm trees at Agana Harbor.Although small and typhoon damaged, (a few of the spokes coming out of her head are missing) this is a scenic spot, and having a tropical background for Lady Liberty does make an interesting photo op... (Pleas see my Chiayi, Taiwan page for another setting for Lady Liberty...)

Two Lovers Point

by kenmerk

Two Lovers Point sits high upon a cliff just north of the tourist enclave of Tumon bay. Chamorro legend has it that two young lover leapt to their death here, having been forbidden to be together...Nice place for views of the West Coast of Guam...Note: The current monument is not the original, which was destroyed by a typhoon. Note the cables that are now securing the current statue...

La Plaza de Espana

La Plaza de Espana is at the center of Agana. A nice green square that contains what little of the old Spanish architechture that is left in Agana. Conveniently located near both the Pope and the Latte stones...

Latte Stones

by kenmerk

See the ancient Latte stones, some of which can be found in downtown Agana, near the Plaza de Espana. Nobody knows what these stones were actually used for, but there are two prevailing theories:(1) The foundation for the ancient Chamorro "Big Man" houses. (2) The grinding stone for some sort of ancient brew of Chamorro Cafe Latte. I guess we will never know for sure...

Umatac Bay

by geekgrrl

This bay is at the southern end of Guam. Driving around the island of Guam doesn't take very long and is well worth the effort. My favorite view is at Umatac Bay. There are two bridges there that resemble London bridge.

This is a picture of Tumon Bay, the beach in front of the hotels where you can find most of the tourists, and a few locals. It doesn't have the privacy or beautiful reef life as most of the other beaches do, but it is best for crowds, and has nice white sand.

It's Pacific Islands Club, the most famous Sports, Entertainment, and Activities department in Guam!! So many water activities in there, whatever scuba diving (Swim-thru Aquarium), windsurfing, water basketball, archery, beach volleyball, squash, pools and slides!!!If you stay here until night, then you can watch the dinner show from native Guam! Very colorful! If you really love water activities, maybe you could choose to live in PIC Hotel!! Because you can use all equipment in PIC in any time, that could save your money a lot!!!

Besides an excellent place to dive, Guam offers a wide range of activities. You can trek till ye drop, shop till ye drop, or combine the both!Hire a boat, and go fishing, or just cruise! Surf on a boogie board, relax on one of many beautiful beaches, or fly to another island! There are a few smaller airlines that fly back and forth from the other neighbouring island, and are reasonably priced.
