you can see many dried fruits packed in hermetically sealed plastic bags all over the Island of Guam. They are available in many kinds like dried mangoes being the most numerous and also dried pineapples, dried banana chips, dried coconut chips, dried papayas, dried yams and more. One important difference is that these DRIED FRUITS ARE MADE NOT IN GUAM BUT IN SOUTH EAST ASIAN COUNTRIES like the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. WHY? since guam has no big commercial fruit farms, they import most of the dried and fresh stuff and and these are then sold to willing Japanese and Korean and Chinese tourists who lapped them up with glee. You can clearly see at the back that they are not made in Guam ok.
Unique Suggestions: Before buying these delicious dried fruits at K-Mart, ABC Stores, SM Store, Souvenir Stores, DFS Galleria Stores, be sure to look at the back since most of them are really not made in guam.
Fun Alternatives: These dried fruits will cost cheaper if you visit their countries of origin but If you don't have the time or the budget to go to the Philippines or Indonesia or Malaysia or Thailand, then buy these wonderful dried fruits.

well, this can be a certified tourist trap, why? since it offers mainly curiosity for the average tourists but I would say that some of them are willing to buy the assorted adult stuffs being sold in the sex and lingerie stores that are found in some areas of guam, particularly at the Hotel row of Pale San Vitores Road. You would see gawking japanese and korean and chinese tourist going inside and "having" a wow factor of the assorted sex oddities like the dildo, the vibrator, the edible underwear, lots of Adult DVD's and S & M bondage suits. But only a few of them actually buy these stuffs.
Unique Suggestions: these adult shops are open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm everyday and if you are really interested, a regular adult DVD sells for $ 35 for the recently released titles like the evil angel series, penthouse barely legal series, Peter North's North Pole and more. Old DVD titles costs $ 14 to 20 and they also offer Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Brazilian, Latin Adult Films, and no picture taking is allowed inside.
Fun Alternatives: none, you either go inside to gawk at the oddities or buy them.

Beware of taxi rip off from K-mart. The meters are rigged.
Unique Suggestions: Video tape the transaction, the trip and the meter. They will threaten to make a case against you if you report it to the police. The police seemed irritated with me when I tried to report it, so I made no report. If you video tape it, you can report it and it will all be on record.
Fun Alternatives: Rent a car, take the trolly. Don't do business with taxi services.

The airport has a large DFS (Duty Free Store) in it and food court (some that you can't find off the airport -- Wienersnitzel). But it can be quite costly, buy only if you didn't get your shopping done elsewhere.
Unique Suggestions: You are starving and are stuck at the airport and have no place else to go, then eat there. As for shopping, you can find mostly everything at the local mall or Kmart.
It can be pretty quiet, at the inactive gates so you should be able to get a nap if you have to layover at the airport for a few hours.
Fun Alternatives: If you can you can use the Travel Lounges for the airlines (Continental & JAL) if you have access.

Ok folks, if the massage parlor say "Open 24 hrs a day" this is a front for prostituition. If you are looking for those hanky panky places, be advised that HIV and other STD's are common. Many of the workers are drug addicts or women smuggled by pimps into the country. Best to stay clear!
Unique Suggestions: Use a condom and hope you don't catch anything.
Fun Alternatives: Best to use the hotel SPA services!

Street hustlers like to offer alls sorts of things to tourists and then offer them an expensive cab ride to get to the place.Cabs are outrageously expensive. So negotiate prices first and expect to pay a lot.
Unique Suggestions: Know the price before you take a taxi
Fun Alternatives: There are shuttle buses that run around the main part of the island and it is possible to buy a day pass for 5.00 for unlimited trips.

Well the falls are pleasant enough, but they have converted the area around it into a kind of playland of some sorts. (complete with a $20.00 admission fee...) Which is about $18 over the worth of seeing the falls. The one thing here that is worth seeing is Yokoi's cave, just because of the interest of seeing where one Japanese soldier hid out for 28 years in the jungle...

You cannot imagine how far away Guam is from North America until you fly there with a toddler.
Guam is south of Japan, east of the Philippines, north of Indonesia and just far, far away from everything, located in the western Pacific about 13 degrees north of the equator. It's the southernmost and largest island of the Marianas Island Arc. The island chain forms part of the eastern margin of the Philippine Sea.
