Litia Sini Beach Resort: Fiafia in Samoa

by worldkiwi

Several large hotels in Samoa open their doors to non-guests for their fiafia night - singing and dancing, usually with a dinner. Some smaller places put on fiafia for their guests. I was lucky enough to go to two fiafia while I was in Lalomanu. The first one was on Wednesday night at Taufua Beach Fales. This is open to non-guests. Locals from Lalumanu village perform traditional and modern Samoan songs and dance and finish the night with a flashy fire dance. The same group perform for guests at Litia Sini's down the beach on Friday nights. The fire dancing happens on the beach and looks spectacular. The skill and physical stamina of the performers is amazing.

Flip Flops Bar & Grill: Whoa!

by downundersurf

We were staying at Suva Central, Fiji just planning our surf trip to samoa, when I decided to youtube Samoa (the tsunami updates)and up popped this 30 second promo on Flip Flops bar & grill...I was like whoa...I thought Samoa was a developing country. When we got there (Samoa) we were head bound to lulemanu the tsunami affected area and check out the surf. So after sessions at the local surf spots we stopped by the "Flip Flops" and I must say out of my 4 day stay in Samoa I rate Flip Flops Bar & Grill 8/10 but better then any other nightspot over there...real relaxing...no dramas...nice pool table though..gotta check it out...just a few suggestions maybe: 1. Reggae Music..get some!! 2. Some tourist dont want to bothered too much.other then that I will remember Samoa because of Flip Flops...because I met my fiance there!!! strictly Flip flops

Lighthouse: Multifunction spot...

by FelixB

The Lighthouse is at daytime a kind of bar & restaurant thingy. But on weekends during nighttime it is turned into a nightclub. The Samoan folks (mostly those living in Apia) come here to dance and have fun. But also some of the tourist come here. It is said to be one of Apia's hippest nighlife spots. As a matter of fact there aren't much other ones anyway. The funny thing is that the whole establishment doesn't have much more than a roof and some pillars, but that's just the right thing for Samoa where it's hot and humid all the year round and if a big crowed is hitting the dancefloor you can imagine the temperatures. Beware: Sometimes, when alcohol is involved, some people tend to start fights. Some people are aggressive, but most of the others just come there to have fun. Come as you like

Aggie Grey's Hotel: Fiafia Traditional Dance Show

by FelixB

Every Wednesday there is a traditional dance show called Fiafia at the buffet restaurant at Aggie's. Tables are set up conference style facing the stage, so everyone can get a good view of everything. Reservation might be needed as many people from outside the hotel usually come to see the show. If you don't want to have buffet you can stay at the bar right next to the happening for free.Native Samoans will dance traditional dances and live music will be played. After dinner people move to the pool where the best part of the show is going to happen: the fire dance. So get up earlier and save one of the deck chairs next to the pool.

New friends under the stars

by 2rs

There are several nightclubs in Apia, but when you get out of town there's not much partying going on. In stead you can spend the evening with some new friends talking about good things as you share the view of the outlines of a palm against a clear sky speckled with stars, while the surf breaches the shore.
