Related Kiribati Favorites Tips

Favorite thing: Kiribati has all levels of education. They participate in a cooperation called The University of the South Pacific, with Cook Islands, Fiji, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu and Samoa: http://www.sidsnet.org/pacific/usp/

Like in 10 of the other 11 member countries, there is a university center in Kiribati, on Tarawa. Lectures are partly given via satellites and shown on big screens in the respective auditoriums.

On the primary level, different religious groups "compete" by offering schooling to the children, but there are also public schools. During our stay on Butaritari, we visited the local school, where our hosts Ioanna and Bakatii are teachers.
