What to buy: I enjoyed looking at the local crafts on display. There was no pressure to buy, but the vendors were helpful if you had a question. It was really interesting to see what they could produce with so few materials!
I did make a few purchases--how many people can say, "Oh, this came from Kiribati."
I have a 'basket' made of sea shells, black electrical tape, and colored plastic twine. I also purchased a small dish which is made from a coconut shell.
What to pay: Cheap. I didn't even try to bargain. They put a lot of work into making this stuff, and it didn't cost much. They took U.S. dollars.
