One can explore Sand Island which is the only Island that people live on in the Atoll it is really interesting with the mixture of history and Birds Birds Birds. Sand is the Largest and and has the "town center " . Really beautiful lagoon o and fields full of Goonie Birds plus historic cable station buildings, monuments to the historic battle of Midway, and many other historical sites.

From Nov to July is the best time to see the Albatross population Midway has somthing like a half a million pairs of Laysan albatross and 25,000 pairs of black-footed albatross. It is so cool as far as the eye can see gooneys and listing to their wonderful a moos clicks clacks and whinnies and the gooneys part is the dating dance with is amazing intricate but comical movements leaves you with a smile in wonder of nature. See the Gooney mating dance and thegooneys runway take off
