Private Tour from cruise stop, Easo

Private Tour from cruise stop, Easo, Lifou

Greydemon Says:  My plan to hire a car in Lifou fell flat when I found that a place described in Lonely Planet as 'Five minutes from Easo beach' turned out to be 20kms away. So, my wife and I were rather late looking for an alternative, most of the cruise ship tourists having boarded...

Walk and experience the fabulous views., Lifou

peeweekathi Says:  The walking paths and tracks, to the churches, beaches & lookouts are great, with some smooth roads and a few 'bumpy' uneven paths, so take good walking shoes, or wear your 'reef/aqua' shoes. The humidity makes it a bit of a hard slog, at times, but the subsequent views are...

Walk explore Lifou Island..., Lifou

Norm-NZ Says:  Well worth the 35 minute uphill hike to the White Church on top of the high peak. Scenery and views are fantastic...The photo shows me starting the climb. The cruise ship Pacific Sky in the background. As she sailed I was aboard her sailing off in to such a beautiful sunset....

Sama Discovery: A Good Gite on Lifou, Lifou

drmjalba Says:  I looked over the site iles-loyaute.com -- home -- your stay -- accomodation and I chose to stay in a tribal village. I clicked on Sama Discovery and I stood in the tribal house seen in their picture on the right. Another great source of information is air-caledonie.nc -- ou...

Cruise ship....Pacific Sky: Ship's Cabin nice..., Lifou

Norm-NZ Says:  The ship's air-conditioned cabin I stayed in was nice but basic. Nice place to rest from all the on board activities, and believe me there are heaps. Nice place to cool down, lay down and of course nice private place to sleep. My canbin had a toilet and shower, table and...

Pacific Sky ship's food

Food on board the Pacific Sky cruise ship is absolutely positively delicious. The quality and presentation of the food is 4 star plus. Range of food to suit everyone. If you go hungry on board Pacific Sky it's because your lips are super-glued together....

On the cruise ship Pacific Sky there are many night clubs or night spot to enjoy and have fun... And I mean have fun, as in fantastic time. My favourite was the disco night-club. Starts at 10:30pm and finishes at dawn. Disco lights, DJs, coooool music, party atmosphere dancing inside the club and on the outside disco deck under the stars....FANTASTIC...!!!!!!!!

La Tortueuse de l'ile, Lifou

drmjalba Says:  Mr. Tori (kanak name: Nganyane Watrire)works with Sama Discovery; He can organize trips around Lifou on demand at a price and he can transport you always in time to the airport. As an example, I chose to meet three professional wood carves in their ateliers and it was a very...

Travel by ship...., Lifou

Norm-NZ Says:  The best way to get to the island of Lifou is to go by cruise ship. I travelled on the cruise ship "Pacific Sky". She anchored in the bay and ferried the passengers to the beach. I have attached a picture of the Pacific Sky. She is a beautiful ship....

Warnings and Dangers

Sharp corals close to shore.

Coral - precious & pretty but dangerous.

Make sure you take some reef/aqua shoes with you and wear them when entering the clear waters, because there is lots of coral, close to the shore lines and you could rip your feet to shreds, without protection. Try not to step on the coral anyway, it needs to be preserved:)

Tourist Traps

The local children are cute, but.....

Watch anything you leave on shore, while you're swimming/snorkelling or whatever. The local children would REALLY like them! They also come up to you and ask to 'borrow' your snorkelling masks, but you are unlikely to see that mask again, if you 'lend' it to them. They can swim much farther and faster, than you ever could. Don't let the cute, pouty face and little squeaky voice, fool you.

Unique Suggestions: If you wander off on your own, like I did, at least have a waterproof 'beach safe' on a lanyard, for your money & anything else of value and take it in the water with you.

Fun Alternatives: Let the kids keep your snorkel mask, if you don't need it anymore:)

There are several swimming pools on board the cruise ship Pacific Sky. A great place to relax in the sun or the shade by the pool. Have a cocktail or a beer, or cool off by splashing around in the pool. Good place to work on your tan, or simply meet friends or make new ones..... And you will meet lots of new friends.....

Cruising the South Pacific ocean.....

Favorite thing: As the ship Pacific Sky sailed away from Lifou Island towards our next island stop I wished I had more time, more days on the South Pacific island paradise.....

Fondest memory: My fondest memory of Lifou is the hot white sandy beaches, the green palm trees and coconut trees, and the clear blue warm waters.....And the fantastic reef and coral snorkel diving too.....
