I visited the "Yeiwéné Yeiwéné Cultural Center", dedicated to this independentist politician, who is the most relevant political personality given by Maré Island to the indigenous Kanak people of New Caledonia.

It describes the traditional way of life and how it is related to the agricultural cycle, through celebrations dedicated by agricultors to marriage, life events and death. The text is written in the local Kanak dialect spoken on Maré, with few explanations in French and no explanation in English. My guide Cathy translated for me in French, because I can speak French. For those who speak English only, there is a smaller chance to find a translator.
Very interesting. Gives the whole meaning of local customs.
