lagoon

Snorkelling around this lagoon is such an experience, the water is amazingly turquose and full of tropical fishes. Moreover Nw Caledonian Barrier reef is the longest in the world, and not so tourist place neither which permit easily to find out unspoilt place with a little boat.

snake

You will encounter a lot of those snakes while in New Caledonia, even on the popular beaches in Noumea. Although nobody really looks worried about them you will wonder how dangerous the really are until you will get to know that this black and yellow reptile is a very poisonous snake, said to be 10 times more poisonous than the Cobra of South America, they are not dangerous at all as their heads are very tiny and they get very scared from humans. Still do not try to go to close to them while in the water.

island

Favorite thing: That is a must I reckon, I had the chance to spend a whole day on a little boat going around the lagoon to find snorkelling spots. And there is severals little deserts islands (like robison!) where you can stop over to have your lunch, or just sunbath with the guarantee that nobody will bother you, except maybe some funny animals!

Fondest memory: The same day, while I was snorkeling with just 2 other people, we ended up being just a couple of meters away from a shark!! I could have a heart attack if IU would not be that young and healthy. The problem was that there was no lands for miles away and the boat was some 100 meters further. I had never swam that fast in my life, and didnt get back in the beautiful sea that day!
