Favorite thing: Although the monument here has been defaced a little, it's interesting to learn of the history of New Caledonia during WW2, and this little park commemorates the US army who had a base here during the war.
The regard they were held in is shown by the naming of some of the suburbs of Noumea, Motor Pool being one example.
My grandfather also spent some time here during the war with the NZ army.

Favorite thing: If you are expecting a nice cheap place in Noumea you most definetly wont find it. Accomadation can be expensive and food is not cheap as well. What you do get however is a laid back lifestyle and some super friendly people

Favorite thing: The beach in Anse Vata location is very nice, and youcan feel this beach every morning if you choose a hotel close to the beach. I recomand you Le Lantana, it's cheap and frindly.

Favorite thing: Above from where we were staying was the Catholic Cathedral. We went and had a look. It looks like it has seen better days, but it's still an impressive sight up on the hill there.
