There are several walking tracks on the property.

For 2009 three new tracks have been marked. If you plan to walk there, bring everything you need to protect yourself against the sun, as there is not a single tree which would provide some shade.

The walk up Mt. Chisholm takes 1:20 hours, and offers far reaching views of the station.
The 2 hour hike up Pudding Hill is also suitable for mountain biking.

Finally you have the 1 hour walk up Mt. Augarde from where you have great views of the surrounding ranges. However, as stated in another tip. Already the view from the start of the walk is fabulous.

For more info about hiking tracks, best talk to the rangers at the DoC offices and get a detailed map.

Your track... :-)

At a time when the Acheron Road is not open yet – usually in November – the Molesworth Run takes place. And you run – not the cattle!

You should be an experienced marathon or at least half-marathon runner to be able to finish this race. You have to run on gravel from the Molesworth Cob Cottage. The finish line is in Hanmer Springs, after 84.7 kilometres. Remember, there are two alpine passes to cross – plus some other hills I would also consider as passes (like Isolated Saddle) if I had to run.

I think this is really only for the very Hardy.

More info about 2008’s event (and surely soon about the next one) here:

Also in November you can compete in a mountainbike race on this itinerary. Info here:
