Nightlife? NOpe Nope Nope

by AhYu

If you are looking for nightlife trip, New Zealand definitely won't included in the list.Besides Auckland (the biggest city in New Zealand), the places we found crowded at night were Queestown (South Island) with tourists everywhere, and also Wellington (Capital of New Zealand). In some rural places, the supermarket will be closed at 7pm, and hard to see people on the street.I guess, New Zealand is for natural lover....

Minus 5: The coolest experience in Auckland

by ashley05p

This is a bar made of ice!! You pay about $18 USD and get 1 free vodka drink with entry. They also provide you with a warm jacket, boots, and gloves. You can only stay inside the bar for 30 minutes but it is a pretty cool experience to do one time only. There are heaps of ice sculptures inside and really everything is made out of ice - including the drink glasses. Guess it doesn't matter because you are covered up by a big jacket!

Winnebagoes (Queenstown): Great pizza and beer

by ashley05p

This is an awesome bar in downtown Queenstown. They have great wood-fired pizzas, I recommend the Mexican pizza! They also have a specialty draught on tap. Beers are $2 after 12 every night of the week. They also have a roof that opens, so when weather permits you can see the stars while you dance! Well worth a visit!! Nice dress required.

launge: alternative auckland

by yanate

Christchurch and Wellington: Christchurch and Wellington

by chalboy

Both cities have a huge nightlife right in the middle of town. Wellington has a slightly more upmarket nightlife - it is the capital, hence you have lots of public servants and business types. Christchurch has far more students, so you can go to flash clubs without being dressed in a suit. The best thing about these places is that they both have well over 100 bars, pubs and nightclubs - something to suit everyone, within a couple of square kilometres. Wellington is quite dressy - some places you can't get in if you are wearing jeans. Christchurch is more relaxed pretty much everywhere you can get in with jeans and t-shirt, as long as they are reasonabley clean and not ripped. The Casino is one exception - no jeans alowed!

Taupo: The best nighlife in NZ

by martin_nl

The best nightlife is definitely in Taupo. Start in the pub, watching rugby with the locals and hop to a few other pubs afterwards, with your lastpub being Mulligan's. If you feel the booze kicking in take your a$$ up the stairs into the Holy Cow for a boogy and some more drinks and a whole lot of fun. Everyone is here and it's the perfect night out!Now where was my hostel again??? No jandals/ thongs/ flip flops

Danny Doolan's: Auckland Harbour

by martin_nl

Settle yourself on the terrace of Danny Doolan's in the harbour of Auckland and you're in for a great time. The rpices of the drinks are reasonable and if the weather is good you'll get a nice tan too. The harbour is a happening place so someting is always going on.

Poo Pub: Theme party nights

by martin_nl

This is one of the best party pubs in the whole of New Zealand. The Kiwi Experience bus stops at Lake Mahinapua's Poo Pub, with the oldest pub owner in the world, Les. He is a great guy and has a fantastic pub. It's awful and that makes it so great. Every evening there is a different theme and we had bin bags. So we had to create our own costumes out of some bin bags. Hmmmm, where to star? By buying bin bags of course. Everyone created something different and it was an hilarious evening. One to never forget!!! Different every night.

Punakaiki - West coast of South Island: Back to basics

by K.Knight

You do not have to travel to another country and spend every night in a night club, you can do that at home! Why not take a night to do something different? My wife and I found a secluded spot, safely built a fire and spent a quiet night together taking in a part of this beautiful part of the world.

Nite outing...

by dragontml

Lively DJ and band scenes, particularly in the larger cities, have given New Zealand's night life a renewed vibrancy. You will find a variety of night-clubs, cabarets, pubs, concerts and live performances to choose from, and there are also four casinos, in Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown. Dress is informal and relaxed on most occasions. Smart casual clothes are acceptable at night-spots. Men are generally not expected to wear suits and ties, except in a few of the top formal bars and restaurants in major cities.
