all over: Pub Crawl!

by Terra_H

In NZ, they have these things called pub crawls-where a group of people rent out a bus for the night and the bus drives you around to different pubs (usually within a city). I went on one through my University and had a blast. They are really fun. Some of the buses have a dance floor where the back seats used to be and most (if not all) of the pub crawls feature loud, thumpin' music. These are really great for birthday parties or any similar event, because everyone can get pissed beyond belief, but everyone makes it home safely. all depends on the bus line, but I've never heard of any restrictions. Some pubs, however, have dress codes, so check before you go-a lot of the nicer pubs don't allow sneakers (tennis shoes, runners, whatever...)

Courtney Place: Be Prepared

by Rusty-Justy

Be prepared to drink and dance to the early hours of the morning. Some bars are open until 6 or 7 the next morning. In Wellington Courtney Place is the place to go where you can find ethnic restaurants galore, fast food, greasy spoon diners, and of course numerous dance clubs. Most places require you to have clean tidy and dressy clothes. Some places will not let you in wearing boots (like hiking boots), black jerseys or sweaters, and sometimes even jeans.

Moeraki Lodge: an evening walk

by margaretvn

I think the very best nightlife we had was the walk along Statehighway 6 late at night with our nature guide at the Moeraki Lodge. Seeing the Southern Cross, glowworms and hearing the opposums was great. wrap up warm.

Plenty of Nightlife

by keeweechic

You will find a variety of night-clubs, cabarets, pubs, concerts and live performances to choose from, and there are also two casinos, in Auckland and Christchurch, which are open 24 hours a day. AUCKLAND Casino : Sky City Casino is open 24 hrs, 7 days a week and has over 1,000 gaming machines. You need to be 20 yrs of age to enter the casino areas. Within Sky City are many bars and restaurants which makes an excellent venue having everything all in one place..

Make your own fun

by nada1712

There is not alot of night life around the Bay of Plenty. You have to make your own fun. Swim in a hot pool. Barbecue and a sing song. Midnight swim! But don't forget the Deet. There can be mosquitoes! Very casual. Bare feet

Chch- The Grumpy Mole: Chch- The Grumpy Mole

by Terra_H

Cool music. These huge 'tables' to dance on, a bigscreen TV that plays videos and sports. If I remember correctly, no sneakers or tennis shoes (whatever you wanna call them.) But, pretty much anything else goes. People usually dress pretty nice for going out, though.

Although both Wellington and Auckland have their fair share of nightspots nowadays I had the most excellent time in the town of Napier. There are several good bars and clubs well worth checking out. Party the night away and the go and relax on the beach. But watch out for the strong tide if you are considering a midnight dip in the ocean!! Smart/casual or, in many places, there is no dress code.

ha ha ha ha ha haSpose it depends what you get off on..but SORRY, unless you like to drink in the backpackers bar with the other travellers, you may be sadly dissapointed. If you are into Trance, then summertime is the only time you may find a party, even then they are not often. Aucklanders have a distressing love of House music. Bars that i would reccomend are Galatos, Khuja and Calibre.

There are a variety of places to choose from when you're in Auckland. There are a majority of clubs situated around the viaduct basin and scattered around the town centre. Depending on your choice of music eg If you're into R&B or hip hop I found SomePlace Else on KRd to be quite up with the play. If you're into Techno and a mixture of music than Loaded Hog on the viaduct is the place to be. Grunge type of music than Voodoo Lounge on Vulcan Lane is head banging. There are cover charges at some of these nightclubs ranging from $3 - $5. Some clubs have strict rules such as dress shoes to be worn rather than sneakers, jeans, sweaters, t-shirts may also be restricted at entry.

AUCKLAND: The Viaduct Area a good number of clubs in this Area of which most close at 3am. If you are still partying then go to Karangahape Road and most clubs there don't close till 7am and some even 12pm.A large numbers of the people at these clubs in these areas are Local Aucklanders which give you general idea on Auckland's clubbing attributes. Unfortunately most Auckland clubs are still old fashioned where dress shoes are sometimes a must aswell as colars. So to be on the safe side take both.
