Favorite thing: Auckland now has a fine little pocket of restaurants around its waterfront and Viaduct Basin areas. Though not comparable to the great culinary capitals of the world, Auckland's restaurants may not number in the thousands, but the food is of a high quality and varied range. This area is also nice to walk aorund on a summer evening.

Favorite thing: From Devonport, linked by a bridge to Auckland city, you have superb views of the skyline. Come here when the light of the city come on. In Devonport there are plenty of good restaurants, where you can enjoy the evening.
