    The best thing about CinCin on Quay (pronounced Chin chin), is the setting. This is one of Auckland's upper market restaurants. Personally, I thought it was a bit over rated. I went there for lunch with workmates and we had a very snooty waiter. When I asked for a steak knife I was made to feel like a philistine! They didn't have one and the fact I asked seemed to make the waiter incredulous! As for the steak, it was expensive, small and had some grissle in it! Nice view though.

    If you want a delicious steak, at a good price, go to Zavito Cafe and Bar in Mairangi Bay, on Auckland's North Shore - big meal, good price, and delicious.

  • Zavito is a secret gem, tucked away in suburban Mairangi Bay, on Auckland's North Shore. It's a short stroll to the beach and if you are travelling around on bus, there's a bus stop less than 100m from the place so you can get there and away easily to and from the city centre.
    The chef here should be on a big retainer. The food is divine and the service smart but casual. The prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is always great. There's a nice bar and if you go in the day you can sit outside.

    The steak in a red wine and ginger sauce on a large forest mushroom. Yum. There's lots of other mouthwatering temptations on the menu too.

    Langkawi is a small restaurant in the North Shore suburb of Milford. The best time to go is the week, as on the weekend they seem to be run off their feet and you might have to wait a while for your meal. Service is not always as quick as you would like.

    Rendang has to be my favourite. Some of the chicken dishes can be a bit disappointing.

    There are many good areas where restaurants abound. You can just wander along Ponsonby Road, Parnell Road, the Viaduct Basin and take your pick of any cuisine or just let one of the many aromas you take in make the decision for you.

    Parnell Village is found about 1.5 kilometres (1 mile) east of city centre. An entire suburb of Victorian timber cottages that have been preserved from developers.

    Ponsonby Road is one of Auckland`s trendiest multicultural inner suburbs. The Viaduct area was developed for the America`s cup challenge and the influx of visitors to the area.

    24 hours open, this is the place we love to go. The coffe is very fine and they got special discount for students as well.

    Latte Frappe is my Favorite!

    The cafe is in Waitemata Harbour, so it's the location and the view that make it special, but the service and the atmosphere were great, too.

    I only had a coffee and a pavlova, so the pavlova must be my favourite :-) (it was indeed yummy.... and the coffee was nice, too). They have a proper lunch and dinner menu though.

  • Auckland is very ethnically diverse and offers a wide variety of restaurants from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. There are also many cafes. If I was able to spend more time here, there were plenty of places I would have liked to try. In my opinion, Auckland has the best restaurants in New Zealand.

    For very nice restaurants with harbour views, go to the waterfront. Most of these restaurants are expensive.

    There are plenty of kebab shops all over town if you are looking for a quick bite to eat. There are a good number of Italian places, and of course plenty of seafood and sushi restaurants.
