You'd think with a name like Oh Calcutta this place might not be that good however you would be completely wrong. The setting on Parnell Rise is really good with a few outside seats kept warm, if it's on the chilly side, by some heaters on the ceiling.
The service was quick and the food really good. A good selection of beer was on the menu & my friends (one Irish & one from Hong Kong) had the Kingfisher Strong & Tiger beer respectively. The food came from all Indian directions so choice was not an issue - everything from the (fatty) buttered stuff to very hot Vindaloo.
Favorite Dish: The Fish Tikka was surperb and the Tandori Chicken quite large. The Chicken Madras was very nice and the fragrant rice complemented the meat.

excellent food, very good location and the best service I have seen for a long time! The waiters come and ask "is everything okay" every now and then. Outdoor as well as well as indoor sitting, we chose the former on a warm summer day.
Oh Calcutta has been the winner of a number of Auckland Restaurant awards, the latest being top Auckland Indian Restaurant voted by the Auckland Herald Viva (August 2003).
