Vinnies: Romantic Valentine's Day Dinner for Two

Vinnies, Auckland

Valentine's Day fell on the last day of our trip to New Zealand, so my wife and I wanted to book a romantic gourmet restaurant for a special dinner together. A Kiwi friend of ours recommeded Vinnies in the posh Ponsonby area of Auckland. As it turns out, many locals consider Vinnies to be one of if not THE top restaurant in Auckland. That evening they were featuring a special Valentine's set meal. The restaurant itself is rather cozy and modest, but definitely intimate. The wait staff were very well trained and helpful, and the wine list was quite extensive, of course featuring the best bottles from across New Zealand. We both agreed that the food was superb, best described as eclectic french cuisine, and we had a wonderfully romantic and memorable evening. Needless to say though, it wasn't cheap!

Favorite Dish: The most memorable dish was an appetizer that had a side of parmesan cheese ice cream. It tasted as strange as it sounds, but not necessarily bad, just... unique!
