    Queen Street in downtown Auckland is the main strip, runs north to south toward the water where it meets Queen Elizabeth II Square. The street filled with retail shops and several shopping malls. It also serves good value food options.

    Queen street or downtown area is a nice place to walk around and shop around. Even if you do not want to buy the items, you may enjoy looking around some antique stores, souvenir stores, fashion stores, and much more.

    Restored administrative port building from the 19th century, now essentially a series of cafes and restaurants, it provides an idea of what the port area looked like 100 years or so ago. And as it is the centre of the ferry services to all parts of the Hauraki Gulf islands as well as Devonport, all visitors will experience this particular skyline view.

    Souvenir shops on every block. If you want anything sheepskin/wool and en route to Australia, save your money and buy in Australia. Genuine sheepskin boots in Auckland were around twice the price of Sydney. Wool lined jackets around 2-3 times the prices. If you want something with possum fur, buy it in NZ as they are not culled in nearly the same numbers as in NZ.
