    Certainly the tallest building in the southern hemisphere is a tourist magnet, but it is a great way to get views of the entire region. They even have glass floors at certain spots in the observatory level for those that want a thrill (and you think you aren't afraid of heights, try it without hesitating!). They also have a nice full service rotating restaurant (which we did not eat at) and another buffet style restaurant if you want to stay and eat.

  • Even though the entrance fee is high ($ 15 - adult), the view is terrific! At some points you can walk on glass and watch down on the street between your feet... dizzy feeling! Best time to go is propably short before dusk, still daylight, but city lights already on.

    Fancy jumping off a tower? Well, u can do that in auckland's skytower. Just incase you are wondering, no, i didnt do it, i'm too chicken to even dive off a 10meter board. Picture shows some brave lady hanging near the observation deck of the tower for a few seconds before plunging allllllllllllll the way down.

    For all you thrill seekers, consider the Sky Jump in Auckland. I personally had no desire to even consider this madness, but my friend couldn't wait! Although, once strapped to the platform she did have a, "hell no" moment! They gave her the 3-2-1 jump countdown, and she stayed firmly planted where she was. She took a deep breath, and was able to take the plunge the second time around. I snapped away on the camera as she sailed the 630' in 16 seconds down to meet me. Wow!

    From the Sky Tower's observation desks, there is a great view of Auckland. On a clear day, you can see as far as the Leigh Peninsula (north), the Eastern Suburbs and Hauraki Gulf (east), the Manukau Heads and the Waitakere Ranges (west) and the Bombay Hills (south). The picture shows the north view.

    Good place to see how big the area is. Did't do the climbing to the top. Good to stand and watch all the vertial jumpers flying by as they stop for a few seconds just outside the window. Their expressions are priceless. Restaurant downstair Rebo really good. Average price but the portions are HUGH, the potato wedges could feed a small family.

  • I would only go on this to see the views but if you are keen on gambling then it's the place to go! It's an amazing building and not for the faint hearted. From the top you have a unprecedented 360 degree view of Auckland. Watch out for the glass floors!!!
