A good way to get from Auckland Airport to the city centre is to catch the Airbus. It operates 24/7 and runs every 10mins during the day and every 30mins during the night. I must admit I did find the trip a bit long - it takes about 40mins to get to the city centre. If you are returning the the airport after your trip to Auckland make sure you buy a return ticket not a one way as it will work out more expensive. see cost below:
Adult: One way: $16
Return: $26
Child: One way: $6
Return: $12
Tickets are bought onboard and no reservations are needed.

An excellent bus service connects Auckland airport to the city centre for 15NZ$ one way or 22ND$ return ticket.
The shuttle leaves the airport (and the city centre on the way back) every 15 minutes 24/7 and it is air-conditioned.
Absolutely recommended!
