The Loaded Hog

by kiwigal_1

The Loaded Hog is a spacious restaurant/bar that doubles as a nightclub on Friday and Saturday evenings. They brew their own beer which is available on tap. Besides the two level areas indoors there is a nice patio area outdoors where you can enjoy your food and beer and watch the world go by! Casual /smart. No sneakers in the evening

Wildfire

by kiwigal_1

Wildfire is another Restaurant/ Bar that switches to nightclub status on Saturday nights. The restaurant is most noted for its Brazilian Churrascaria cuisine. On Saturday nights it continues the Latin American theme with live bands playing Salsa, Merengue and Latin Hip Hop tunes. The bands are Kantuta, Banda Latina and Tropical. See the website for details on when they are playing. Smart clothes

Fox's Winery and Ale House: Fox's Winery and Ale House

by kiwigal_1

Fox's is a good place to go for a drink after a hard days work (or sightseeing). They have a decent menu with mainly pub style food. Different types of beers are available either on tap or in bottles. There are plasma TV's and a big screen to watch the latest sporting event and a couple of pool tables down the back. I went to a rather entertaining quiz night here on a Wednesday night run by Paxi the head barman and entertainment guru. Casual

Globe Bar: Globee

by KatarinaKatarina

Okay the globe is a bar slash night club just off queen st. A backpacker bar with a mix of local kiwi. Most nights go off with themed nights and mostly techo music. If you dig clubbing start here causual to dressy is fine

Boogie Wonderland

by kiwigal_1

This is the newest nightclub to hit the Auckland night scene and it is a good one! They play retro music from the Disco era (mostly 70's) and some of the 80's classics (if you can call any music from the 80's a classic!!) !! We arrived there just before 9pm on a Friday night and got in for free with no queues but I hear that by 9.30 there were queues right around the block! It is open Wednesday to Saturday from 8pm to 6am.As the drinking age in New Zealand is now 18 many of the places someone my age used to go to are now crowded with young drunks. Boogie Wonderland is a refreshing change and has an older vibe to it. The dance floor is pretty cool as it is glass cubes with flashing light patterns! GROOOOOOVYYYY! Anything goes here really. If you wanted to dress up Disco style this would be the place to come though!

SkyTower: Money Game..

by musicinme

People who like to risk in their money must visit this place cause there is a 24hr casion right inside the tower, so, you can spend your nighttime there if you're lucky enough. Anything can make you win..

At the Viaduct there are various places to go.There are restaurants, bars and nightclubs. The Viaduct area was renovated to host the Americas Cup in 2000 and has been come the nightlife hub of Auckland.Check out the separate entries on my favourite places to hang out in Auckland! Nice/casual. No sneakers.

MARGARITAS * AUCKLAND

by kiwigal_1

Great music and drinks!! Open til late (or early!). This place has had a big changearound over the years. Once it used to be a University student hang out but now it seems to have made a shift to cater to the International language school/backpacker crowd. It is an interesting place to hang out both during the week and on weekends. There is a downstairs plce with bar and loud music (DJ) and pool tables and upstairs has a lounge bar with more pool tables and occasionally a DJ. Casual
