Hayami Restaurant: Teriyaki fish that melts in your mouth!

Teri-yaki Fish at Hayami.

This is a new restaurant at street level in the new Nautilus building in central Orewa. The restaurant has been nicely furnished and a good job has been done to make the interior seem like you've stepped into a restaurant in Japan.
There's even a tatami room with a Japanese style table (modified slightly for westerners with that under-table pit for your legs to go into). Purists of Japanese food might be a little put out that there's a little more salt and spice in the food than you might find in Japan... but maybe that's because the restaurant is run by Koreans. Anyway, I really have enjoyed the food here on each occasion I've dined. The service is also very good.

Favorite Dish: Normally I just grab salmon sushi for lunch (about NZ$9). On the one occasion I've had dinner there so far, I had a delicious teri-yaki fish. The fish was cooked excellently... it just melted in my mouth.

Sahara Cafe and Restaurant.: The second best coffee in town (just)!

There is a mouthwatering lunch menu at this place. The food is prepared well and there are generous servings (which we Kiwis like). The restaurant lacks a certain element in its internal atmosphere, but if you get a street front window, it's quite nice.

Favorite Dish: I can't remember what it was now, but it was mediterranean and had lots and lots of king prawns. It was absolutely delicious!
The coffee ain't bad either... I think it's pushing at the heels of my favourite cafe in town!

Espresso Amour Cafe: The best latte in town!

Espresso Amour Cafe, Orewa.

This is a very busy, yet very friendly cafe in the heart of Orewa. It is tucked away from the road, so only locals will know where it is! However, I urge visitors to visit it if passing through Orewa. There's plenty of parking all around it!
The food is made on the premises and is original and delicious. You will find really well made food here. The price of the food is a little more expensive than what you might pay elsewhere, but you get what you pay for and here it is original, well made, tasty food.

Favorite Dish: I love the coffee here. I can still walk in and the owner knows I'll have a latte (that's a type of coffee here in NZ... sort of like a huge coffee Europeans have in the morning with lots of milk). There is always a huge range of tasty savouries and very tempting looking sweets. The food on offer is always changing. Your taste buds will be tickled.
