Hot Saltwater Pools
I love to go here, especially at night, and soak in the naturally heated salt water pools. Set outdoors with lovely furns overhanging and of course the dominant presence of Mt Maunganui looming above, it's a really enjoyable experience.
For people staying in either the apartments or the campground the pools are merely a few steps away. What a wonderful way to finish a day of surfing, to soak in the pools and enjoy the surroundings. A great relief also, after a walk to the summit.
You can chose private or public pools and a selection of temperatures. Lockers for your gear are available for a small fee.

Tucked against the base of the mount, the saltwater hotpools are open all year until 10pm. The therapuetic waters can be enjoyed at different temperatures in different pools, depending on what suites you - the water can reach 39 degrees celcius, but there are less extreme pools more suited to children as well. At night, the pools and the surrounding trees are lit up. Perfect to sooth those legs muscles after your trip up the mount.
