    Rotorua Things to Do

Even if you have been to Yellow stone park, here is still a must see wonder. The large area covered with various geothermal craters and hot springs and unlike in Yellow Stone, the color come from minerals instead of bacterias. NZ$32 an adult, well worth it.

    Rotorua Off The Beaten Path

This attraction consists of a serious of geothermal pools and bush walks and the infamous Lady Knox Geyser. They are located just south of Rotorua and are best reached by car. You should buy your ticket at the main location and then drive back to the geyser. The geyser goes off only once a day at 10.15am. The interesting thing about the Wai-o-Tapu...

    Mount Maunganui Things to Do

One thing that is great to do at the mount is walk up it, but why not try and run it. Locals every day are running up and down , faster than i can walk up it , and with a steep incline you will surely tone up fast. Watching the sun go down was also my favorite, with all the lambs grazing around the edge, you wouldn’t tell your in a town.

    Mount Maunganui Restaurants

On the main village strip this place is always banged out, even at 8am when we went on Easter Monday. Where a 15% surcharge awaits. Making it very pricey at $23 for egg benedict. But it's a nice place with seats out the front and a roofed courtyard out the back.Anya had pancakes which were crumblingAnd my eggs benedict was very good but a little...

Roquette Restaurant was such a pleasant surprise and wonderful dining experience in this small coastal town. We dined for lunch so I don't have evening experience, but if I am ever back here overnight will dine here for sure. Located across the road from the river, sadly the water view is obscured, but nice lookout all the same. The ambience is...

  • JUST DO IT !!!

    White Island Things to Do

There is exactly one 'things to do' tip: just visit White Island.Although some companies offer helicopter-flights over the island, I highly recommend to do the guided boat tour from Whakatane with White Island Tours. It is more than worth the money. Total duration of the tour is about 6 hours, including 2 hours visit of the volcano itself. The cost...

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

If you do get to jump into the crater, remember to conserve energy for the long walk out! And be sure to take water with you!
The walk out takes is via the valley track in the top centre of the photo, taking you back to the rim of the crater.

Unique Suggestions: Be sure to take a water bottle. Wear a hat if in the summer, and take a protective coat if not mid-summer. The weather can change in minutes up here. Good walking footwear is essential as well.

Fun Alternatives: Helicopter services from Rotorua Airport are available.
