This attraction consists of a serious of geothermal pools and bush walks and the infamous Lady Knox Geyser. They are located just south of Rotorua and are best reached by car. You should buy your ticket at the main location and then drive back to the geyser. The geyser goes off only once a day at 10.15am. The interesting thing about the Wai-o-Tapu...more
One thing that is great to do at the mount is walk up it, but why not try and run it. Locals every day are running up and down , faster than i can walk up it , and with a steep incline you will surely tone up fast. Watching the sun go down was also my favorite, with all the lambs grazing around the edge, you wouldn’t tell your in a town.more

A new comer to the area, in 2012, this is a delightful addition to the Mount dining options. We were a group of eight and enjoyed sitting on a large round table so we could interact with everyone. We were near the fireplace, being summer it was not going. Before dinner we enjoyed a drink near the street, and the general feeling was one of happiness...more
Waimarino Adventure Park and Adventure Tours were our hosts and guides for this amazing tour. There's always something satisfying and adventurous with an activity where you have input into your own enjoyment. In this case, it was kayaking, and therefore paddling oneself. In our case we had a dull rainy wet but mild evening. In many ways this added...more

If you do get to jump into the crater, remember to conserve energy for the long walk out! And be sure to take water with you!
The walk out takes is via the valley track in the top centre of the photo, taking you back to the rim of the crater.
Unique Suggestions: Be sure to take a water bottle. Wear a hat if in the summer, and take a protective coat if not mid-summer. The weather can change in minutes up here. Good walking footwear is essential as well.
Fun Alternatives: Helicopter services from Rotorua Airport are available.
