Dangerous roads
Coromandel has still a couple of 'dangerous' roads. Mostly gravel roads which are very winding, narrow and sometimes rather steep. So drive carefully.Just check your rental car agreement if it is allowed to drive these roads !!!

When entering areas where the kiwi live, take care not to threaten in any way. Dogs are forbidden in these places. Never discard plastics or anything manmade that may hurt kiwis. Walk carefully and respect that you are in their "patch".

Coromandel and motion-sickness go hand in hand for me unfortunately. The roads are often very windy and prone to upsetting the stomachs of the afflicted. Be sure to open a window and let in some cool air, travel with plenty of water to drink enroute. If you drive, yourself, then you are less likely to get sick. Eat bread or crackers to soak up the juices in your stomach. Look outside the vehicle, and never read in the car.

All over the Coromandel Peninsular there are many one-way bridges. This means they are, in fact, one lane bridges meaning only one direction can cross at one time.Be sure to note by the black and red arrows as shown in the photo, which direction has right of way.
