Getting around.

There is NO public transport in this region but there are many couriers that do regular runs up and down the coast daily that will take passengers.Organised tours such as Kiwi Experience do a regular East Cape Escape run to the region as well.Many people cycle there way around the Cape but heck, I know those hills too well to try to take them on with a bike ... plus ... the amount of big logging trucks on the highway must make it a pretty uncomfortable experience.Camper Vans and cars are the best way to go. Most of the small villages along the way have petrol, refreshments and campgrounds which make the route more comfortable.Camping is very popular and there are numerous places to make camp on the most scenic beaches you will ever see.If you do camp, please ask the locals if it is okay to do so and whatever you do ... do not sleep on peoples verandahs when they are not home.
