Napier's nightscene is pretty limited, and the majority of the locals prefer the gorgeous 'village' of Havelock North (approx. 15 mins drive away, near Hastings). Havelock North has a number of cafes, restaurants and bars and you'll be sure to find something that will appeal to while away the evening hours.

I'm sure there are bars and places to go at night, and of course there are restaurants. But we really enjoyed walking both in the city streets, and down on the beach. Our hotel was very near to the beach, across from where this photo was taken.
The Norfolk Pine trees had lights in them and with the sparkling ocean it all looked so lovely.

Although it looks like the Rosie Ogrady's in New York, this one is definitely more laid back. It is packed equally with tourists and locals, and they never seem to be wanting for a party.
